I’m presuming the OP means Stuttgart, if so Köln will be of no concern.

Hmmm
It would be of concern to me if I were using the E31 running South to Stuttgart

even then you’d really have to go out of your way to drive through the affected area but then again, you can always nip through lux for cheap ■■■■ and diesel :sunglasses:

Stuttgart I do apologise .

Came from munich on the e52 heading towards strasburg france, i think the roadworks were abit more south than strasburg to be honest so you’ll probably be ok. Running through france will be your quickest route if your allowed to use the tolls.

Edit… South of stuttgard i mean.

I’d have thought the shortest and cheapest way to Stuttgart would be down to Lux and then right before France bear off for Germany and head across to Saarbrucken, Pirmasens and Karlsruhe and finally Stuttgart. Going via Köln wouldn’t be all that much further if you’re already going via Belgium any way but it would add a much greater distance of Maut to your tolls.

That’s the way I was thinking robin,if I remember right is there a tunnel at the French German border ,is it the Epinal tunnel

I was thinking of the border directly from Luxembourg in to Germany at Perl.
It’d be futher but cheaper on Maut, even paying the French tolls I should imagine but you could go via France and then either cross in to Germany at Saarbrucken or go further east in France and cross in to Germany at Iffezheim bear Baden Baden. But again I imagine that would add quite a bit of distance on, but could perhaps be the cheapest route if thats whats most important.
I’m sure some one else will have a better answer as most of my experience was going to Switzerland or towards the Ruhr area of Germany.

Edit,epinal tunnel

Assuming you are coming from the Dover area it is certainly quicker to go down through France and cut across to Baden Baden as you say but I believe it is more miles.

def via lux - trier- Pirmisans -landau Karlsrue - shortest and cheapest. iv tried loads of routes but always found this the best also the bridges on the resovior on the cut across to the a5 at Baden -Baden are shut at mo .off in that direction myself on Monday have rastatt for tues

Ditto. Make sure your tank’s empty at Lux and that alone will be worth it !

I would go THIS WAY.

When you cross into Germany at Perl there is a parking area with a Maut machine.

Stuttgart is a bit of a hellhole for trucks. Trucks are banned from within the area bordered by the A8, A 81, B10 and B313 unless you are actually delivering within that area.

Also the B10 and B313 have a 60km speed limit for trucks in the interests of saving the planet and there are loads of cameras to catch miscreants.
