Hi off to Moscow in mid December first time so any advice would be gratefully appreciated
Don’t go it will be cold
Yeah, out of the gates, turn left and it’s about 1,000 miles!
Consider getting a Thermoline fuel line heater fitted.

Otherwise be very wary about turning the engine off for any length of time if the temperature falls much below -25f.
been a couple of threads in the Euro Forum about going to Russia in the past few months, might be a start for advice.

Surely the problem will be the batteries losing power due to the cold temperature and the oil in the sump thickening, putting even more strain on them that will be the biggest issue with shutting the engine down Rather than a fuel gelling problem
That’s what happens in Canadian -25deg anyway, maybe the Russian version is different
bigr250 has an interesting video of Russia, maybe he can post up a link to it

Maybe Russian diesel is different.
Not really advice as such but…can i come?
Would love to do a run like that…
What are you hauling?
Simon
check the visa situation.
sometimes available at the border, other times not.
best option, get a multi entry visa before you set off. just saves the hassle later.
this firm will sort out any visa. well worth the small fee:

little bit of kerosene in it i think.
We usually used to put about 50 litres of petrol in with a tank-full of diesel and that would stop it waxing up to a degree, although I’m sure the diesel on sale now is of much better quality.
To the OP though, the essential point to grasp is that it will be cold, very cold, twice as cold as the coldest ever day in the UK, take plenty of warm clothes, blankets, lots of tinned food in case you get stranded, but always try to park with other trucks or somewhere you can get help if you need to.
No expert but how would modern engines and the assosiated electronics and emmisions stuff react to lobbing petrol in it?
Obviously if your going in a Volvo f12 or a scania 142 not a problem.
My advise is sub it out to a Pole.
Good advice Flysheet although there are some tools who are British who will work for 50 Euros a day .
Me I use to take a extra tank top and a family pack of pot noodles , never missed a delivery to the Kremlin with a trailer full of Mars Bars. Happy days.

it’ll be fine. you can’t put too much in though. the octane will be far too high. therefore you will need more compression to make it run. so you’ve just got to put in just enough.

They wouldn’t like it at all, I’ve no doubt they would shut down as soon as they detected it.

Yes My Man £1900 last time I spoke with My forwarding friend who specialises in that area.
Appaling isnt it, I’m fairly sure they where doing Kazakstan for 9000 euros too.
I was thinking about the things I used to do also which isnt relevant to this day & age really but I always backed the front brakes off the unit, tore all the panels out of the cab & stuffed every space with rockwool then put the panels back & also lagged all the fuel lines with pipe lagging & cable ties. I used to put brake fluid in with My fuel too & always had my kettle on hand for unfreezing air valves, oh the joys of lorries with methanol bottles & no air driers, cheap vodka in the screen wash too helped Me along. I’ll not depress You any longer
