Is driving around Tilbury dock picking up from 5 different warehouses(about 20 mins driving ) classed as off road due to it not being a public road, and also what symbol should i have the tacho on(analogue) whilst off road.
The most recent rule changes did away with that so I’m afraid that you’ll find that it counts as driving time just the same as driving on a public road does.

Cheers for letting me know, just got back on the road after being on the sick for 18 months, finding it hard to keep up with all the rule changes.
The regulations now state that if any part of a journey is on roads open to the public then any off-road driving is included as in-scope.
You can now only book off-road driving where the whole of the journey is off-road.

Vehicles used for the carriage of goods by road and with a maximum permissible weight (including any trailer or semi-trailer) of over 3.5 tonnes are in scope of the EU rules. ‘Carriage by road’ is defined as any journey entirely or in part made on roads open to the public of a vehicle, laden or unladen, used for the carriage of passengers or goods. ‘Off-road’ driving is in scope where it forms part of a journey that also takes place on public roads. Journeys made that are entirely ‘off-road’ are out of scope of the EU rules.
