Odd things DSA examiners say on test

I passed my C+E today and found a couple of things the examiner said amusing.

Before the reversing part he said, “I will go done there and check the cones, follow me down, and bring the truck with you”.

During the test I asked him how long he had been examining. He replied, “Since half past eight”.

Anyone else encountered ‘out of the ordinary’ things said by examiners?

They sound like things said to break the ice and prove he is human.

As said on other thread… Congratulations.

I have had several tests with different examiners and all have had different personalities. But most have proved they are human at some point

I was told to pull in behind a parked lorry next to a butty van. Someone called to him that if he hadn’t been busy they would have bought him a bacon sarnie. The examiner replied “If he ■■■■■ up this pull off, you’ll be able to!” Filled me with confidence…

When doing my C+E I passed on my 3rd attempt.

1st time failed because I didn’t tug on the trailer hard enough to please the examiner.

2nd time I touched the barrier on the reverse.

Needless to say on the 3rd attempt I was feeling the pressure, I felt like I was letting everyone down and also the stress of finding the money for yet another test was all I could think about. When we got started on the road test the examiner winds down his window and alters the wide angle mirror on the n/s.

I knew that all the mirrors bar the wide angle on the o/s were for my use so I said to him “I can’t see out of that mirror now that you’ve moved it.” He replied with “It doesn’t matter that mirror is for my benefit not yours.”

That kind of added another level of stress to my test I could hardly see anything at all down the near side all through my test.

You must mean moved the barrier, your allowed to touch it as long as it don’t move.

When I done my class 1 examiner said I could touch the barrier as long as it did not move, then went on to say no-one he has tested has touched the barrier without moving it

I can image it being very hard to touch the barrier without moving lol.

To be completely honest I don’t know how much contact I had with it. I got out to take a look then got back in and moved a bit further back. The next thing I know the examiner gave me the signal to move forward so I did. I asked when he got in if I’d touched the barrier and he said with a very sarcastic look on his face “oh yes!”

When I pulled away it was still up right and didn’t look bent.

I remember a bee coming in the cab on my test and the examiner standing on his seat wafting it with his clipboard. He wasn’t happy until he got it over to my side of the cab!

LMAO.

That made my day.

After my second attempt at class 2 test at the end of the exam my examiner asked me if I had the number for British Rail, I replied no and enquired as to why he asked, to which he responded, as you may want to give them a call as you may be better at driving trains as you are crap at driving lorries, he then handed me a pass certificate

Class 2 test, driving along a typical city street, lots of parked cars etc - examiner turned and asked if i had much experience driving vans… I said, yes a fair bit - he replied - it shows, only a white van man would have attempted that gap at that pace…!

I still passed.

My examiner said “I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt. And believe me, it’s a very big doubt”.

I did my training 2:1, I tested first and failed for touching a cone on the reverse… fair enough. :frowning:

My oppo was next on test, but the instructor had been warning him all week that he needed to slow down, because he drove too fast.
When they returned from test, the examiner told my oppo that he’d failed for excessive speed, and after a few moments, he then said, but if it’s any consolation, you now hold the lap record!! You should have seen my oppo’s face… priceless!!
