Over the last god knows how many years( 15 ish ,i think ) i’ve had some strange delivery requests.
This one was right up there.
Usually when you arrive on site you ask the the usual questions, where do you want it ? what way do you want the doors to face? etc etc etc.
I thought the guy was taking the ■■■■ when he replied " I want it over there and I want the doors facing up "
So being the obliging type ( sometimes) I did as he asked.
Now neither me, or any of the other guy’s in the yard get paid enough to risk death so the factory manager got despached up the ladder to loosen the chains.
Now i’ve no idea why ,and i did’nt ask, I just left them admiring there new container .No doubt they had there reasons but all i wanted to do was get out before the dam thing landed on my head
It must have been a right pig to get the doors open.
It could be even worse closing them again.
Somebody else did a post recently, I think he works for Goldstar. The same position was requested, and it turns out that they then use a grab crane to fill the box with scrap metal by dropping it in, then they turn it back to the normal position with the doors secured.
Seems like containers come in full of cheap Chinese goods, then they fill em up with scrap paper, plastic, metal etc and ship it back to China…no doubt to make more cheap Chinese goods to sell back to us!!

Its to be hoped that is not their plan then or he will struggle to put it back on his truck with a Hiab with 27 tonne of scrap in it

Fair point, the box in other post was mounted on a tippingn platform so that it could be ruturned to horizontal, then picked up by a container lifter…
As I said in the original post I did’nt ask why they wanted it stood up, but I got the impression it was going to be a permanent fixture.
Definitley not geting filled with scrap.
Perhaps theyre gonna use it as a giant water ■■■■!!!
