Occasional driving anxiety

I sometimes worry that I will have forgotten how to reverse a trailer on to a bay or into a space after a couple of weeks off.

It goes away the minute I start driving though.

Does anybody else ever feel like this on occasion?

No, driving a truck is no big deal!

I no longer drive trucks, just my cars and occasionally my 3 1/2 to van and I was getting anxious about the possibility of being in the same locality as Dozy, but as he’s already been mentioned now I’ll say nothing

PaulNowak:
Doze, me ole fruit, you just need anti-Stobart pills

Can you get a large enough dose without prescription for it to be effective ?
Though I suspect the size of the dose needed would bring you in scope of ADR

And that’d give me over anxiety. So factor that in Beez

I’m sure 6 cans of Redbull a day would help…
Which begs the question of when these people need a bit of a caffeine fix, WTF do they do? :open_mouth:

I’m sure they would drink 7 cans a day if the buggers could stop shaking!

Sugar-free version of Red Bull may increase the danger of blood clots
thefooddoctor.com/Sugar-free … s_redbull/

Just one can of the popular stimulant energy drink Red Bull can increase your risk of heart attack or stroke. The effect was seen even in young people.

The caffeine-loaded beverage causes blood to become sticky, a pre-cursor to cardiovascular problems such as stroke.

One hour after drinking Red Bull, your blood system becomes abnormal, as might be expected from a patient with cardiovascular disease.

Red Bull is banned in Norway, Uruguay and Denmark because of health risks.

Santa:
I used to be paranoid about not having the brake on when I coupled up. Lost count of the number of times I had to claimb down and look in the cab to check before putting the red line on.

+1 - strange how it increases without anything happening.

I had to use up my hols before I lost them, so was away from my motor for a whole 10 days, but saying that I’d only done about 30 or 40 days on class 1.

Came back and couldn’t get the trailer in the same postcode as the unit.

The only way to drink this stuff is with vodka which thins the blood thereby negating the thickening effect, you can also go for hours on the stuff if you know what I mean (well suppose that is one thickening effect then).

As far as driving anxiety goes its probably quite common due the pressure cooker environment one works in. My own coping method is to not cruise on the limiter, surprising how relaxing this is. Or just learn to smoke, start with electronic vaper things first before working your way up to proper man tabs.

Pill popping is never a good idea due to them masking already present issues. Over time you will adapt and have good days and bad days, confidence helps but be wary of complacency. You know that feeling you get when the lights change to amber just as your at the critical stop or go distance and caught between a rock and a hard place well thats how I feel all the time.

I sometimes find it is the only time in my life when I can totally relax, the rest of my life is a bit like that moment when you’re balancing on two legs of your chair and you lean back a little too far …

Yes,if I get either one or both of the two routes where just about every driver has had a bump. Feel my blood pressure go up as I get there.

Doze comes up with his posts, and his shunts and scrapes, and about a year later tells us he’s on uppers and downers.

I’d say you couldn’t make this stuff up…
And I’m really not sure you could! :open_mouth:

:unamused: Old doze never ceases to amaze me how (and why) he continues to set himself up to ridicule, and is totally oblivious to it at the same time.
