So I turn up 3 hours early for my booking at Ocado, the guy on the desk ■■■■■ through his teeth and tells me I’m too early. My reply was “fantastic, I could do with a good kip”. He then asks for my mobile number so he can ring when they want me. I give him the number and add “let it ring a while, I’ll abe the one with zzzz’s coming out of the window”.
I could see the suit at the back wasn’t too impressed with this arrangement, and off I toddle to make a brew. I hadn’t even got the kettle fired up before I received the call telling me which bay to back on!
Some people are soooo predictable and susceptible to inverse psycology!
I never understood why supplier drivers out of all of us get treated like total scum by inbooking warehouses.
No one is pummelled under by rules and daft H&S regulations like the supplier driver.
“You can’t use the canteen facilities”
“You can’t sit in your cab”
“You can’t use the staff toilets”
“You can’t park on the approach road”
“You must wait in the sweatbox/cooler until it’s your time.”
“If it’s going to be over 3 hours waiting, we’ll tell you it’s upto half an hours wait - to get your hopes up, and be dashed”
"If you tell us you don’t want to be disturbed for 3 hours, then we’ll get you a bay pronto!"
Of course, this very thread draws attention to that last line…
Like Schwarzaneggar’s Terminator with his pull-down menu response to the nosy landlord…
I work at Ocado, Dordon on Birches Coppice. Has anybody delivered there yet? I had some time to kill today and was watching the trucks and vans delivering to us, they pretty much went straight onto the bays and got unloaded. I’ve heard Hatfield can be really slow, Dordon appears to be a bit quicker. We’re alot bigger than Hatfield, eighty bays but alot are for Ocado vans and trucks to be loaded

I went in there today, not just saying because you work there but they seem an alright bunch of staff, one even went and got me some change for the vending machine when the computers went down and there was a minimum 4 hour wait. We used to go to Hatfield 1 day you could be 20 mins in and out other days I’ve been pulled out because of how long they took.
funny that. I go into Hatfield quite a bit , and if im there more than 30 mins before my booking in time, i get told to sod off.

Did with bog rolls too I think the fast moving stuff they are always waiting on so they get you in pronto
I think Hatfield has been at 2-3 times capacity for years. With Dordon now live they may start to ease up a bit on the draconian booking rules.
