Looking at most of the folk who seem to get these things I always assumed OBE meant Other Buggers Efforts!

All becuase he set up major plant in Gyor for daily mail group

I expect it will give them yet another chance of a jolly, another chance to place their snouts in the trough at some banquet at the Mansion House and a chance to do some more brown-nosing to politicians, I’ll look forward to reading about it in the next newsletter and admiring the self-congratulatory photos.
To be honest, I’ve always rather fancied having a title or gong, just to see if I could get upgrades on flights etc.
I did at one time look into changing my christian name by deed pole to Sir Derrick etc but was told that it wasn’t allowed.

I think you can have ‘Lord’ as a Christian (sorry, forename. Forgot to defer to our Muslim brethren then) though. Remember Lord Sutch?

I think his official name was Screaming Lord, I was told that simply having Lord would be viewed as an attempt to deceive. this was a long time ago so things may have changed.
Don’t think that Screaming Lord Derrick has the same kudos at airport check in!!
