O2 are intending to get around a regulator’s decision and to increase phone call rates (by 5p a min) and rental charges without the right to leave the contract without penalty.
Funny how the Government bases its calculations on the CPI, yet its friends use the higher RPI to justify their greed:
Shame that we won’t be seeing the regulator revoke their licence:
Those free minutes that get used up ringing the boss mid-job are going to be even more precious.
Well for one suggestion, if the company doesnt supply a phone, or pay something towards your, then dont use it for their business, or refuse to answer it, but at the end of the day, it costs them money to call you, unless your on International duties, and then their call ends at Dover, and you pick up the tab for the rest.
With regard to phone companies upping the prices, they are legally entitled to do it, providing it doesnt go over the inflation index, and provided they give you 1 months notice of their intention, and if you dont like it, you can leave them to join another, with no penalties, which i think is fair.
What does need sorting out, and it is being worked on, was the call from uk to a mobile abroad ( ie, a driver ) wherby the caller should have to pay the full price of the call. What ■■■■■■ me off whilst on holiday last year, was the nuisance calls, that i didnt want, but yet had to pay for, only way around that is to turn off the phone, but while should i.

I have enough friends, all my friends have my number and I have theirs. If I’m abroad and I receive a call from a witheld/unknown number I ignore it. Oh, also, never ever pick up your voicemail whilst abroad! That way leads to sky high bills.
