evening guys just wanted some advice ivejust had a nop from other night 23:30 at night on the m5 jct 16/17 north 81mph empty motorway fixed gantry camera.
is it worth pursuing or ■■■■ it up I cant believe there doing me for 81mph don’t ya just love this country
I’m a cab driver doing 60,000 a year btw
cheers.
IMO, take it on the chin unless you can prove it wasn’t you
Pay up.
I’m assuming you’ve been done by the HADECs (by the side of the carriageway) rather than the gantry ones. If it’s the gantry ones then you would’ve had a reduced speed limit sign up.

I feel your pain. 81 on an empty motorway Taking into account the time and with nothing else about i dont suppose thats even taken into account in the UK?
■■■■ it up buttercup and smile as you make your contribution the local authority’s christmas party fund.
TBH if you’re a cab driver doing 60,000 miles a year you really ought to know better (especially since a recorded 81mph was probably around 90mph on your speedometer).
Remind me … the limit on motorways in the UK is ■■?
Oh yes 70. It’s the law and you are given a certain amount of leeway.
You were doing ■■? In your own words 81 !!!
No sympathy from me.
cheers Andrew and cc some good nice encouraging words although other references who does drive at 70mph in a car on an empty motorway at 23:30 at night ■■?

People who like to spend their money on themselves?
If you haven’t done a speed awareness course within the last 3 years you will probably get offered one of them once you send the form back to say who was driving
could you not just send them a letter back saying that you were ■■■■■■ drunk and sleeping in the back seat and the punter was driving? you would love to help them but unfortunately he paid cash .

Always have said this is a great forum for good advice…
Really 81mph on a motorway at night, what a toss, now had you have been stopped by a REAL policeman, he would probably have just given words of advice.

Exactly, speed cameras exclude the human element. Who would keep to a strict speed limit on a motorway anyway. Theres always the ones who will say they never speed but then theres reality…

Could always sell the points, however this is a criminal activity and I would never condone or suggest such behaviour.

I hear the best thing to do is put a post on Faceache. Never get caught putting it on there
To be fair you we’re already given some leeway from 70, up to, what is it, 79mph? Look no one can honestly say they have never sped but it’s a bit of a cheek to say you are thinking of challenging it. On what grounds? You’re already quite a way over the limit as it is.
When we speed, we take a chance, every time. Because the aren’t enough police officers around any more, who might have turned a blind eye, you take your chance with these cameras. Perhaps if it had have been an officer in person you might have got away with it; no offence but most taxi drivers seem to get away with blue murder in terms of speeding, courtesy and general standards as it is. Police don’t seem to bother with them.
