NTL, BT and Digital TV

Right then, I need some help with technology :stuck_out_tongue: I can make a reasonable job of driving most trucks, and can load most types of trailer.

What I can’t get my head round is upgrading my ISP or get rid of dial up internet.

I have just had an offer from NTL for £30 per month which gives me Broadband, Telephone and TV including free Sky Sports and already has Eurosport and BBC24 etc.

I have to use my BT line as we do not have cable in my postcode yet. So I understand I still have to pay BT for the line rental.

I currently pay BT £25 per month on an Option 3, I think
I cant get BT Broadband because my PC is driven by steam, but with NTL it will work on Win98 according to the website using an upgrade patch from the website

I dont want to pay 55 quid for watching telly twice a week.

Give me some options please, in easy to understand language.
:stuck_out_tongue:

Apparently when I go onto BT website and use computer checker, it says 98 is not compatible and needs upgrade to ME or XP

I have a usb socket yes

Have you looked at onetel site.

They are doing a package for £24.99 which gives you 2 meg broadband, free calls after 6pm and at weekend.

You can also pay your line rental to them instead of bt for 9.99 per month.

I am in the process of changing my line rental from bt but my service provider is wanadoo.

You will have to check if it works with windows 98.

Thanks I will look at the different options Mark

Wanadoo Broadband does indeed work with Windows 98. It says so in the minimum spec bit below anyway.

PC
Pentium 200Mhz
32MB RAM
16-bit sound card
Four-speed CD-ROM player
Video card/display 800 x 600, 256 colours
150MB free on hard drive
Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000 Professional or XP
A USB port

For £17.99 p/month you get 2GB of usage and free calls to landlines for the first six months.
I dont know how much you use the internet but 2GB of usage is fine for me and im always downloading songs etc…
The connection speed is upto 2mb aswell which is ■■■■ fast compared to dial up.
Still have to pay line rental to BT though. Hope this helps.
