Nowt to do with trucks

The silly old fools have backed the pie in the sky party and their mates the greedy(KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY POT CONservatives)What a way to save money get rid of that rich greedy bunch of leaches in the lords…Lord Prescot …do me a favour

I did have a lot of respect for the Students that was untill they chucked the fire extinguisher of the roof and the person,( who was/is a student irrespective of who his dad is) who thought it would be clever to hang off the cenotaph.
I do have a little bit of knowlwedge of student behaviour as my son is at Newcastle Uni. I think he gets value for money as he does over 30 hours of lectures every week…Once finished he will go to sandhurst to be an army officer, he is lucky as his fees are covered by the army.
There are far to many Mickey Mouse Degrees, all they do is go on the Lash for 3 years…Have you been to a Uni city lately■■?

Too many kids going to uni’. I left school at 16 in '96, and “careers office” should’ve been called “college and university promoter”; Unless you wanted further education, they were as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Heard some daft schoolgirl moaning the other day on the radio, she wanted to be a “drama therapist” WTF is that?

She wanted to be a drama queen. The ■■■■■■

god, so many of you are so narrow minded. Whilst I do agree some courses like “golf course managment” should be funded by themselves, here’s another twist in the argument…I pay my taxes, but why should my taxes go to the NHS to help fat people or people on drugs or old people with bus passes?..oh wait, thats why, because if my taxes didn’t go into a nice big money pot, I’d have to pay for everything out of my pocket in one big chunk instead of relying on the government to give me a helping hand once in a while when I need it.

I bet you that when some of you on here get older and cant drive, will kick up a major fuss if they plan to take away the free bus passes! People forget that currently, student education is subsidised, just like the old biddy’s bus pass scheme is subsidised…now if I pay my taxes, I expect me and my children to be able to have access to subsidised education…and my children will pay taxes for the same right.

Would any of you pay the current amount of tax you do now and not have access to NHS, Fire, Police, Ambulance and so on so forth? I think this will come round in several years time to bit a lot of people in the ■■■. And to people who mention about there’s no grants to fund for HGV, it’s not exactly expensive is it? I could save up to do it again in 3 or 4 months! I certainly couldn’t save up £54,000 to become a doctor.

But if you where a doctor you could save up in half a year to do it again, could you?
I believe that they should make NHS private, hospitals would have to compete for their customers and maybe don’t waste so much money on Big overhead organisation as the NHS
Britain is far behind on students paying for their own studies, countries around us have this already for donkey years.
Again nobody goes against his will to University, it’s a choice.
It’s not narrow minded, I paid for my own kids to go to the right school, my daughter is a University graduate, and paid for a big part of her study by sponsorship of the company she works now for.
I’m not rich, but I realised that I put my kids on this earth, they are my responsibility and I can and will not request from anybody to pay for them.
I was again my choice to have kids…and choices cost money
If i didn’t have a pension insurance, that would be my choice, but I don’t think i would ask the Governement for a penny to sponsor my old day.
We are so easy in thinking the Governement need to pay for it, not a problem but maybe we need than pay taxes like welfare paredises as Holland and Norway, which are far higher than we do overhere. (and even there are the students requiered to pay for their study)

I would say “good reply” but on this one, I think my “narrow minded” approach sticks with you. If you can go and find a doctor who’s just graduated and can easily afford to pay off 60k then please forward them this way. If starting salaries for doctors were so much, you really think there’d be a need for ‘Key Housing’■■ And I think your other points are illogical as well. My mum paid her taxes to fund my education, I pay my taxes so when I have kids, they have the chance to have an education, and my children should pay their taxes so my grandkids have a chance at an education…thats how its worked for years…but now, although I’m paying the same amount of tax (soon to be more), my kids and grandkids all of a sudden wont have the same opportunities for education unless they stump up 60k of their own…how does that make sense then? I can understand all sectors have to make cuts, but I could think of much better ways to do it!

My mrs keeps telling me i have a degree in sarcasm but i don’t remember studying for it  . Didn’t see the piece where they pulled a disabled person from their chair…that is disgraceful…or was it a numpty pulling a fast one?? Wifey works for the NHS,money aint great for her efforts but i can tell u now that some of the ‘Consultants’ are on ■■■■ close to 200k/annum…for sitting in a big leather chair reading notes and discussing someones health with 4 or 5 other ‘Consultants’ in a big posh office sat around a big posh table…thats 6 people, 1.2 million quids worth of decision making if Ethel needs home treatment 2 or 3 times per day. Sometimes, if these ‘high rollers’ are a tad busy, they say to her ‘its up to you’…‘but i can’t make that decision’…‘of course you can, you know the patient’…my answer would be 'ok then, she’s paid her taxes for the last 70 years, give her a little bit back. Funny how thats all good till summat goes wrong and the buck is passed right back down to her. If some of these people were paid accordingly, they’d be on less than my mrs or on the dole cus i’ve met some of these at parties etc and i gotta be honest, most of 'em can’t string a few words together  Back to the students, have to agree with the Rubber Bullet thing…or those itty bitty little bean bags…or when the little ‘gangsta bois’ are giving it Johnny Big Spuds with a lump of rubble in his hand at 6 paces…spray the little ■■■■■■■■■ of to the van to take some details . As for this country being behind with students paying for their own studies, u only have to read through this site to find that this country is pretty much behind everyone else on pretty much everything!!

I went back to collage as a mature student and have a student loan which is now being payed back
but when i was there i also had a mortgage and family to pay for so i had to work when i wasnt studying.
( I have my Edunburgh taxi brief)
So for 2 years i was either studying or working 7 days a week, now on the radio i hear some ■■■ saying that he has had to
re think his year out as he might not be able to afford it!!! poor wee lamb.
whilst i agree it is a lot of money there are also a whole lot of people who think the world owes them a living.
Some of the suggestions in this thread are pretty good IE. if you are training to be a doctor, nurse ,teacher
or anyone who will be contributing towards society in a MEANINGFULL way should get their fees payed for by the government,
they could even be subsidised by lawyers or vosa employees…
ironicaly after 2 years study and 23 months employment in IT i am back on wagons cause i cant get a bloody IT job anywhere but
at least i can pay my mortgage and student loan back
(to be honest i preffer artics anyway)

The same would be for an “just graduated HGV driver” let puts like for like.
Let put it this way, everybody has theoretical the possibility to make a million with working. (some do, some don’t)
Let say neither would spend a penny of their earnings.
An average truck driver could make that in approx 33 year, if you be honest, do you think that a doctor would need the same time?

If you want to start your own business, there is not such a thing as a “Key truck” you have to fund it all yourself.

And regarding your argument about paying taxes, this would mean that people with children should pay a higher tax rate to “cover” these education costs.
This is not the case in Britain, they pay much less and get more grants from the government, than the person who is single.
So where do you think this money comes from to pay for these students…from everybody else who pays tax.
Even if you never wanted any children, you still pay for them.
In fact it feels a little bit like when you shop and the girl in the checkout puts an extra bottle of Bacardi in there, and charge you as well, would you protest?
Yes you would because you get something where you didn’t ask for, and you wont accept the argument from the girl behind the till that she get a bonus for that.
That’s how I feel about paying for students.
I’m happy to pay for basic education, I wouldn’t have a problem if they spend more money on basic education.
But when you’re 16-17 that’s when you be on your own, I also believe if students had to pay for their own studies, they would work a bit harder, and finish the study as fast as they could!

If you call that “narrow minded” C’est la vie

How about doing the college fees on a points basis, like Australia do for immigrants? State pays for jobs we need like doctors, surgeons, teachers etc… Those who do a degree in media studies or sports science, or Coronation Street- on your bike and pay up.

I left school 4 and a half years ago and that is spot on in my opinion.

That is a good idea muckaway,
