Just to let you all know that the local parish council here together with Derbyshire County Council seem to have gone into partnership with the local NIMBYs
The lay bys at either side of the dual carriageway just off of J30 now have one hour limits on them for parking.
The Industrial estate just to the rear of McDonalds has a sign saying no parking of HGV’s
AND to top it off, the large off road lay by near the farm as you get onto the Worksop Rd now has a 7.5 tonne limit except for access sign that has gone up today!! At the monute there is tape covering the middle of this sign, but I expect it to be enforced within the next week or two
Obviously they have made alternative arrangements for tired and maxxed out drivers…NOT!!!
Not only are we not good enough to have a truckstop so we can sleep in a tin can on wheels, we are not even good enough to be allowed to stop in a layby!!!
I was told that they were going build a new truckstop for us in Iraq, but locals objected because they were worried we would lower the tone of the country!

I think this is because cars were being left there all day (using it as a car park) so there was never any room to park anyway. At least now there will be room to have your 45 min break, as long as the cars take note of the new limit.
Is it a 24hr restriction or just during the day ? I thought it was just during the day to stop the cars clogging it up .
paul@midway:
I very much doubt the one hour limit will be enforced overnight .
I wonder if youd like to be the 1st to test that therory, :unamused: as it didnt stopped em last year slapping ticket on the trucks for parking in the dark without sidelights in a residencial area
It says ERF not RAF:

What about the butty van thats parked slap bang in the middle of the southern layby, I wish they`d park the thing at one end or the other.
Tbh unless you wanting to visit the pubs close by (De Rodes Arms & The Treble Bob or any other pubs in Barlborough) for a meal and a few beers, the laybys or the lane set back from the De Rodes arms, arn`t the best places to overnight.
With a little forward planning, you should make it to the truckstops either north or south of that location within 10-15 mins
Mr.Shep:
Only a couple of weeks ago somebody had a load of lcd tv’s nicked whilst parked overnight in one of laybys.
it was the road that runs along side the tesco dc not the laybys, the driver thought he would be ok just at the side of this delivery point, only to wake up to find half his load had delivered itself, just not to tescos
I had a walk down to the lay bys near the motorway today to have a look at the times.
Only half of each lay by has the restrictions on and these run from 8am - 6pm
The problem is that the waiting time is limited to 40 mins So just in case a traffic warden stumbles across the area a ticket could be issued before your legal break is up.
Pierre you are quite correct that other parking alternatives are available with a bit of forward planning. But for a lot of night out men their companies do not pay for parking and so this could be an issue for them.

No thanks , I gave up night outs and day outs a good 3 years ago .
I won’t be going back to it either …
Home every day for me .
I just grumble about the lack of parking at night time for legal breaks , the MSA’S and laybys are full of you trampy drivers
