Well the plan was to keep the day job for now, and do the odd Saturday a month with an agency. But now aware that it changes your tax code and then your employer gets informed, then they know what your up to so I can’t keep it quiet while I learn c+e. If I tell my employer I have a funny feeling they won’t appreciate it as I’m not one of their favourites. Cash in hand - well the less said about it, the better. Literally!
I guess I’m stumped now until the c+e goes ahead, doesn’t help that I’ve dipped into the training funds to live on. Having a two year old and everything else tends to lean on your finances a bit lol, I’m sure I’m not the only one there.
It doesn’t change your tax code for your main employer. Any agency you’re with will deduct tax at basic rate instead and you can claim anything under the earnings threshold back at the end of the year.
As long as it doesn’t affect your work and there’s no clauses in your contract about other work outside your normal hours then there’s nothing they can do.
HMRC regards taxation as a private matter between them and the individual. They won’t (shouldn’t) even talk to third parties - including employers - without specific consent from the individual.
Hi Orc, speaking of HMRC, been trying to phone them most of the day. Just to say that I might be doing a days driving once a month or so, I guess that’s who I need to declare it to?

Of you’re being employed by a company who is paying you as an employee and not a contractor they are responsible for dealing with your tax matters. If you’re working PAYE you don’t need to ‘declare’ anything to anyone.
you’ve nothing to worry about Dan.5 years ago i was working for a crappy little outfit who wanted me to work every other saturday earning next-to-■■■■ all…instead i worked for an agy on those days doing a full days work.tax office wrote to me saying main employer wouldn’t be informed of my ‘second’ employer.
