Hi Norm,
I’m 62 not quite 65 yet, will have to learn to ay bonnie lad with me teeth out before they let me into Durham.
Cheers Dave.

Get your finger out Dave, I retired at 62, do not let life pass you bye, get a passport, and travel to France and see Disney World before you grow up. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Norman Ingram:
Chris I might take my old gal to the IOM, what does it cost on the ferry, but that will be later this year, I have been many times, but my wife has not, but I always liked the place. Poor old Dave 65 and never been to Durham, that is almost like going abroad, they speak a foreign language up there, :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:    but you have missed a lot by not having a passport, but Dave there is quite a few people who have never left the top of their street. My wife apart from comming to Northampton when she was 16, she had never seen other places in Ireland and never been abroad until I took her, my children have the travel bug like me, but have a long way to catch up with me.

Hi Norman, have a look at steam-packet.com for the fares as they vary, especially dear in TT and MGP fortnights. You can come via Liverpool two and half hours via fastcraft or via Heysham on conventional ferry which is three and half hours, both to Douglas. We always use Heysham as the seacat sailings can be cancelled in rough seas which can occur any time of year. You can sail one way and go back the other i.e come via L’pool and go back via Heysham.
If you are coming let me know and I’ll start saving up unless you bring Harry,Dave,Steve,Keith,Richard and anybody else who will help you out with the drinks
I must say that the weather has been exceptional lately, sunny, warm and a nice calm sea, just like the Cote D’Azur(ish). You will all be welcome and I look forward to the p*** taking :sunglasses: Make sure you have your HGV licences so you can help me out with the trunking over here :grimacing:

There’s enough of cartoon characters around here Norm without going to France to see them,as I said to Harry, not really bothered, may go sometime. Have done an awful lot of miles in the UK on days out, very often done 500 miles a day in my car, also in my transit, only a few times with the sprinter when I go to see my youngest sister in Sussex for the day.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Dave did’nt have a passport when younger did my abroad stuff with the forces and did’nt need one, the next bit i may have posted before, but one gaffer, when supplying me with a new Scania said if i wanted the motor to get a passport and would be shown the ropes of international haulage, i said at the moment i’m quite capable of getting lost in the UK without having the hassle of getting lost oe’r the water where i would’nt be able to ask for directions being able to speak only two languages English and Rubbish, he must have been happy with that answer as seemingly he, shrugging his shoulders, said he had plenty of lads wanting to do the abroad job and it was my loss adding , “i won’t ask you again” but he left me with the motor, which i grew to hate with a vengeance, the previously mentioned 80 thing, surely no one ever drove one of them things on continental work i think they only made them in day cab form and i suppose i would have had to sleep in the thing, yuk.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi Harry,
Never had any nights out,was only on about 100 mile radius from the quarries, used to do about 350 miles some days, but that was two or three loads. I know all these lorries have sleeper cabs and alll the mod cons, but what they haven’t got is a crapper. It’s no wonder the laybys are full of rubbish with what some of the overnight drivers throw out, before anyone gets upset I’m not saying they all do it. Sorry to go off on a tangent Harry, but I would have liked a long distance job,did have the chance of one,but changed my mind, was courting and had a nice car which would have been parked in a haulage yard all week,so I stayed on the tippers.
Cheers Dave.

Ha ha Dave & Harry, that has made me think about a time I had a 2litre cider bottle I used to use when taken short, it was nearly full with a little froth on top, stuck in my door, when I was leaving Turkey, and the Customman checked my cab, I was on my way and over in Greece, stopped to have a crap at the toilet, and thought I would empty my bottle at the same time, but that turk had pinched it, I always wonder if it put him off of " Coates cider" :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

hiya,
Norm it most likely would have tasted better than some of the muck served up in that part of the world, he maybe thought he’d hit the jackpot.
thanks harry long retired.

Hope they did not like it, I would never be able to keep up the supply at my time of life!

hiya,
Norm it’s stopping p"“”""g that i have the problem with, if it was worth money i’d be able to pay for a cruise for you all in quick time, Norm you find the market i’ll produce the goods.
thanks harry long retired.

Knowing you Harry, you would sell anything, snow to eskimo’s, bacon to the Danish, even coal to Newcastle, you are a Lancaster spiv.

hiya,
“Was” a Lancaster spiv Norm, had to re-locate in a hurry when i tried to unload a dodgy load of snuff to hayfever sufferers, well i did try to pass it off as a cure.
thanks harry long retired.

Harry do not sell anything while I am away, I shall check the lighthouse is still there when I return, and leave my birdbaths alone, and “NO” you cannot sell your misses, just have a rest and put your feet up. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

hiya,
Norm my old lady does’nt allow me to rest and put my feet up, i did tell her Norman told me to take things easy, she said tell Norman to mind his own business and give that birdbath a coat of paint, tell you mate i’m just a bleedin’ slave, but i would’nt swap her for a gold clock, but if someone offered two she’d have to go, should have have spent the seven and a tanner she cost me years ago on booze, at least i’d only have been left with a temporary hangover.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi Harry,
WHen’s your old mate back from the emerald isle ? Seem’s a bit quiet on these threads without you and Norm having a bit of banter.
Cheers Dave.

Hello lads, just keeping a check on you, took my laptop with me, so I could view “Darling Buds of May” my wife got me the old set of them. I am in the Maidron hotel in Wexford, and they give free Wi Fi, so I thought I would check up on you, tomorrow I catch the ferry back to Pembroke, we leave Rosslare at 08.45, last night we stopped at Kilkenney river hotel, we had a room with a balcony facing the river & castle, it was 100 euro’s, but well worth it, it was a balmy evening, the sun was shinning, it was beautiful, if I am able to drive over again, I would stay a few days there, hope you and harry are ok, all the best Norman

Glad to hear you are having a good time Norm, weather has been pretty good here today, also sounds ok for tomorrow,so you should have a good journey back. Have a safe one.
Cheers Dave.
