hiya,
Not 11.00x20s but 40x8s they sink in further so make more mess.
thanks harry long retired.
Hi boys
Norman Ingram:

Norm I cannot beleave you have misted a golden opportunity by not bunging the airline to bring this home with you
It would have been the answer to all your needs. No licence required, you could have keeped it in the shed at the bottom of your garden, it could have taken you out when you wanted and even kept the grass down for you.You mit have been able to make a few bob in the rag and bone trade as well. the uses are end lass, You mite have been able to find a use for the horse as well…
I nearly put you could go for a ride when you wanted but you mite have got the wrong end of the stick
Regards Keith.
Harry, I hope they will have some decent tread on, so I can make a few bob out of them, coz you have to pick a pocket or two?
, the only horses I like Keith, are the ones I bet on?
hiya,
Wish i’d a shilling for every 40x8 i’ve blown out on the old eight leggers i’d be nearly as wealthy as you Norm.
thanks harry long retired.
Harry you are wealthy already, you have me as a friend, and all I have is you?
What happened Harry, did I catch you off balance?
hiya,
Norm when working in the pits as a kid and did’nt have a ready answer to anything which believe me was as rare as rocking horse manure, we described it as being “off the road without a light and a broken clog”, yep young fellow me lad you caught me unawares, sew yourself a stripe on, be a “lance comical”.
thanks harry long retired.

Dave the Renegade:
Hi Chris,
Was it you that organised those tippers on a go slow in Douglas last weekend. I know you want to keep it all on the boats, with your seafaring pics.
Cheers Dave. That’s the first I’ve heard about a tipper go slow over here Dave.I know the local tipper men were not happy about the airport extension work being given to Balfour Beatty who brought a lot of tackle and drivers with them, but there was no way would they have coped with that work plus their own regular customers, and as far as I know they did get plenty of work on the extension anyway.I also heard that there were not enough tippers with insulated bodies for the tarmac work. The protest may have been about UK style MOTs and operators licences that are looming.Any vehicle with three axles or more have an annual MOT style exam anyway but it’s going to be applied to smaller vehicles, maybe 3.5 tonnes and above.
You know more about t’Isle of Man than me Dave,I must find out more about the protest.Hi Chris,
This is the piece written in yesterdays Commercial Moter, sorry I haven’t scanned it very well, bit awkward for my scanner.
Cheers Dave
Although I will not condone bent running, or lax maintenance issues this story smacks of protectionism.
Surely a minor brake imbalance discovered on an off road location could have been remedied on the spot without the need for a low loader trip of almost 300 miles.
roadtransport.com/Articles/2 … orthy.html
Doesn’t the fact that Colas have already come in for much criticism about using non local hauliers suggest funny hand shakes and policeman’s balls? It is interesting to me that this was not a VOSA led operation.
Lancashire Police says of the eight RJ Holbrook vehicles stopped "two were found to have a brake imbalance, which is a minor defect.
Never mind Harry, I am sure you will get one up on me, very soon
hiya,
Norm, I can’t be awake constantly and don’t always have a ready answer, but have always tried to joke my way out of tight corners, why?? i’m useless at the art of fisticuffs and just as crap running, but my scoreline with the ladies has been fairly good, but only frustrated ladies i hasten to add.
thaks harry long retired.
When I start thinking about all the places I went when on the M/E, I wonder if I went on a memory trip, what the places and countries would be like after 33 years, would I see anyone I knew, I have been to some places I enjoyed myself on holidays, and it was never the same!

Hi Norman
Have you down-loaded Google Earth ? You can retrace the old Middle-east routes and see how they have changed.
GS
No GS I will have to get my daughter to do that for me, too technical for us old codgers, I am only used to maps.
hiya,
Nowt wrong with the old maps Norm, i do use Google though and it’s good, have a Tom Tom Europe/UK only used it once i finished up in a farmyard sharp got rid of that, old trampers don’t need maps we know where we’re going something to do with a built in computer “a brain” and when returning home the carrier pigeon instinct kicks in did have a well fingered London AtoZ at one time and that got a bit of stick.
thanks harry long retired.
I only mentioned Google earth from a nostalgic point of view!
When I drive “abroad” nowadays I still use the good old map for the finer details, but generally speaking I know the way. However, that Google earth, not maps, is amazing. Its satellite imagery of photo quality and you can see artics on the roads and in the borders when you zoom in, without having to sit in queues yourself. Get your daughter to navigate you to Turkey and beyond. Londra Camp is a Go-Cart raceway now and you can see how much motorway there is across Turkey. I went over Bolu the other night on the old road. Did you know that there is a tunnel through Bolu now !!
I couldnt find the Ark on top of Mt Ararat though…
GS
GS I love to do what you suggest, sometimes I do things on this laptop, next time I have forgot, I still have not mastered photo-bucket, if it was as simple as sending on email, I am into that. as for the Ark, I searched that mountain with my binoculars, when sitting in a queue of lorries , and did not see one sign of it!

thanks harry long retired.
All I can say, is I hope nothing important has fell off! or anything you use a lot.
