Nottingham agency recommendations?

Hi, I recently passed my Class 2 and would like to get out there and get some experience. Can anyone recommend any Nottingham agencies please? I am based in north Nottingham. Thanks very much.

I’ve been happy with QS Recruitment.

Exit thanks so much for the recommendation - I really appreciate that!

Out of interest, are QS one of those who insist on everyone being Ltd or under an umbrella scheme? And if yes, do they use Nova for the schemes?

QS don’t insist on you being Ltd (although I chose to be). They use mypsu for payroll.

Ring Pete Smythes training, they had a couple of agency ads in the reception area

Manpower was always good for me

I have used QS Recruitment (Worksop branch) and Eclipse Recruitment (Nottingham), not much to choose between the two, Eclipse gave the impression of being the most honest and upfront with me but QS maybe tried slightly harder to get me work. I was Umbrella on both using ‘Numbermill’ with QS and ‘Payme’ for Eclipse. QS have loads of work advertised but I found that most of the a jobs they have advertised are seldom available and it was more a case of you got what you were given, on the other hand Eclipse seem to be the opposite having more work available than they advertise. I choose these two because they advertised the better rates of pay and appeared to be amongst the more active agencies in the Nottinghamshire area. If you have a look on indeed put in your postcode and search HGV driver jobs you will see all the agencies that are advertising in your area, other local agencies include Ambitious Personnel, Best Connection, Manpower, Extra Personnel, Tomlin and plenty more besides so there are lots to choose from.

Wow thanks everyone for these brilliant replies. This info is so useful. Sorry I didn’t reply sooner - I’ve been away for the weekend. This is great stuff chaps - I really appreciate it and will follow your leads

I think this thread shows that work demand can be regional…
As Northampton is central, it’s not hard to work out why getting work here isn’t too difficult!
It seems to me that the extremities of the country pay the worst money, or that’s the picture i’m building up…
Am I wrong?

The ads I’ve seen on QS for Class 2 in Nottingham pay just over £8 an hour. Barely over minimum wage. I think this is standard for round here but I’ve not driven commercially yet so someone else might be able to give a better answer.

And if you are prepared to drive for that, that’s exactly what they will pay you!
Admittedly it’s not an area I have any knowledge in, but I wouldn’t or couldn’t live on that unless is was stupid hours…

I have no choice but to drive for that money as if I don’t then I won’t be able to get the experience that will allow me to move onto bigger/specialised vehicles. It is appalling to get that tho after paying so much for training. What would be the rate for equivalent work down there?

£8.00 :open_mouth:

I’m based in Nottinghamshire and the lowest hourly rate I got from QS on Class 2 was £9.50, there must be less demand for drivers or more drivers available in the city.

I’m just basing that on ads on their website. Maybe if I go ahead and actually do some work with them I’ll discover it’s more. I hope so!

I signed with QS haven’t heard a thing since, but I’m only looking for weekend work at the moment for class c or c1. I am trying a new one later today drivers direct although they twice said ring back xxxday which didn’t fill me with confidence. They obvs not in a rush for drivers!
I need afew shifts to justify CE the missus! :unamused:

Is that Nottingham too mate? Hope something turns up soon.

One was burton, other Derby. Good luck.
Does anyone know of an agency that just pays hourly paye by the way?

Thanks. Good luck too. Sorry I don’t know about that. I just rung up one and have a appointment for Monday so fingers crossed!

Route 4 solutions, worked for them for around 18 months best agency I’ve ever worked for tbh.
