Nothing we didn't know already

So they have finally decided that we are busy but underpaid.

Yahoo is part of the Yahoo family of brands

The last section was very interesting.hopefully a lot of those tight a****d hauliers will have to cough up or have there trucks parked up waiting for the repo man knocking at the door. About time as well. I’ve retired after 42 years so stuff em.

The reason wages aren’t going up is that there is no increased demand for drivers. There is plenty of good-news propaganda being put out by the Government because there’s a General Election next year but that’s about it.

Lets all sign up to best connection. If he can see the hourly wage going from £9 up to £14.
Never seen a best connection wage slip for much over £7.50 so maybe he’s talking about his office staff.

We’re struggling to get drivers (even the agency’s are struggling) hopefully our management will wake up soon & address the wages, if they don’t, more of us will be looking & the business will start to suffer.
Perhaps the MD should share some of the wealth instead if buying a New Bentley this year !!! (The one he’s got at the moment is a couple of years old, so he must be due a new one soon)

In order for Hauliers to undercut each other they must keep drivers wages low as its the only cost they can control. Why we let this happen is beyond me. If only we could stick together.

Same old argument over and over.
Whilst folk have bills to pay and families to feed folk will work on regardless, if it means pulling a ■■■■ wage or no wage folk generally go ■■■■ wage to feed mouths and keep the wolf’s from the door.
Because we are taking the ■■■■, or no wage when we go shopping we look for the bargain, delivered by the guy who is on a ■■■■ wage.
Just a vicious circle and lets be honest, it aint gonna get much better because it is too easy as a consumer to hunt the bargain, and if that bargain is made by paying the driver who delivered it ■■■■ wages who is to blame?

Or we could go all ask our boss for a 48 hour week at £15 an hour and time n half over that, watch the company sink and a large operator sweep up the job and dish out peanuts.

I really don’t understand this. "He said he was getting 10 notifications of work each day as retailers, which use the Midlands as their distribution base, try to keep up with rising demand in one of the world’s fastest-growing rich-world economies.
“But it’s very difficult to get your wages up because everyone is cutting each other’s throats for the work,” Renwick said as he neared home in Leicester after a day on the roads."

Now - If demand exceeds supply, as he seems to indicate, then he would be able to get the rate he wants/needs. If there are others ‘cutting throats’ then that says to me that demand is less than he says.

I,like a lot of you do a bit of shopping on-line.Most deals offer free post and packing and delivery. That shows the high esteem that logistics is held in.The trunker and the Tuffnells or D.H.L,Yodel guy are seen as of little value.

because non comes from the Uni,but the one who decide do.

There seems to be a lot of advert boards around motorways asking for “HGV drivers sign up with us” etc.
The latest one I’ve seen is alongside the M4 near Slouth this afternoon… Driverhire I believe it was…

Signed off to go home, and a new bod was walking in, incorrect PPE, Green as grass. Hadn’t brought his paperwork/licence stuff with him. TM is already on phone bending over backwards to not just boot him…

New bod is pacing about whilst TM is on the phone…

“Hi I’m from driverhire” says he…

“Hi, I’m going home. G’night!” says I…" :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve heard that said about Salversons before they were taken over by Nobbies… Salversons were the nearest yard to my house, but the agency contract rates were shredded after the takeover. Thus I never worked there yet. :frowning:

Never a truer word was said but forget the solidarity. Human nature, particularly the human nature of a large portion of truckers won’t allow it & to be fair it’s a bit of a pipe dream anyway. I’ve said before on here, wages will rise for the next few years then we’ll ship the next group of slaves over.
