Hamburg. Forwarders and trading companies in northern Germany are sounding the alarm: Because not enough truck drivers are available, Lorries must remain in their truck depots and supply of industrial and consumer falters. “We find no driver anymore,” said Andreas Jedamzik, CEO of the new club per truck, the news agency dpa. “The good drivers are on the job, the rest of them go broke, the truck, or damage the cargo.”

In order to meet the needs of the logistics industry, would have about 25,000 new drivers each year are trained. In fact, there is only one-tenth. You go through a challenging three-year course, culminating in an examination before the Chamber of Commerce. “This is not to create a lot of interest,” said Jedamzik.

Shame I already had you down as some sort of Brummie Oz or as the nutter McGowan played by Michael Elphick.
Must be something to do with your picture.

Well being as I am a fat Brummie. It’s an obvious choice really. :stuck_out_tongue:

Would our licenses be all we needed though, given that they have three years of training? Or did I read that wrong?

If I could speak German a bit better, I’d consider it!

You’ll need a digi card as well as your license. And an ADR would be a big help too!

Its bad enough being a driver over here. Why would I want to go to Germany and be treated the same as I am treated here, but in a language I dont speak fluently…
Drivers are treated like brain dead anti-social smelly morons all over the world and it don’t surprise me no one wants to do it anymore. If I had a pound for every time I have been treated as though I had been walked in on the bottom of someones shoe, I’d be retired.

Maybe some drivers are treated like that, and on rare occasions I have been as well, but generally I don’t get treated like a brain dead anti-social smelly moron and I’ve worked as a driver in Australia and Germany as well as the UK.

I wonder why we have different experiences and perceptions of the same job?

I am considering going back to Germany, as the market seems better for employment, never know they might take a newbie driver if they are stuck … also as above all companies I worked for in Germany I got treated better than in the UK sadly to say.
