Not what it seemed

Hi all I decided to gingerly write this thread after moving jobs recently… I left my old job where the atmosphere was very hostile and the pressure was emmence for this other job where its very laid back and easy going trouble is when I went for the interview the fella told me id be doing 45-50 hours easy so my money would stay the same HOWEVER for first 2 weeks iv been doing 35 hours and my money has taken a turn for the worse and I feel like a right ■■■ to be honest… im gonna be having words when I see him next. Iv had a few offers of agencys for work but we all know what them are like  I just dont know what to do know this particular agency is offering a full weeks work that is ongoing but I dont like the word ongoing if u know what I mean?? Or maybe im being too hasty and I should just stretch my days out more in this job but my concern is the vehicle is tracked and they might pull me up about it…

Slow down then.

Have three 45+ minute breaks a day like I do. One morning nap. One dinner time nap. One “just before I park up” nap.

It’s not that hard to make seven hours worth of work last ten hours. I’ve been doing it for years and I’m tracked.

Couldn’t stop laughing. That’s what I do. But I don’t nap. Just drink tea

Yes thing is im standing round the yard most days until a job comes up and even then it could be just over the road or a couple of miles away its unbelievable really… otherwise I would

Could it just be the time of year that things are a little slow ?

Don’t ditch full time work for agency. There is plenty of agency work just now but come January you’ll be lucky to get more than 2 days a week

Mate, there’s a bunk behind you for a reason. Tea can be drunk whilst driving.

Waking up after an hour (three times a day) and realising you just got paid for it, is a great feeling.

You should try it.

^This.

Just do it at your delivery points.

Tip, pull outside and park up for a bit. Get asked why you were there for so long and the list of excuses you can use is endless… “another wagon in front”, “staff were on dinner” etc. etc. However if you’ve already been dashing round finishing up after 7 hours, you may have already laid your bed.

…and [zb]ed it up for everybody else too.

Don’t be expecting a Christmas card from your colleagues if that’s the case.

I’m in a similar situation, just taken a new job and a piece of ■■■■! No stress or rush, but crap hours, dragging it out as much as I can, but going home at 2 pm is very weird and what’s stranger is I’m feeling it. It’s like I should be at work, earning? But my wage is just enough to manage on. Hope I’ll get used to it.

Yes thats exactly the situation im in the work is easy and the pay per hour is not bad at all but there just isnt enough hours today I had 2 local jobs I dragged it out as much as I can but any longer would be blatantly obvious…

Ok iv been dragging it out as much as I can the past couple of days I think management know but they havent physically said anything to me just long pauses when I speak to them and body language tells me they know lol ar well mans gotta earn a wage right??

Don’t agree with this type of thinking. Low productivity = low hourly pay, a self sustaining circle.
Why not just tell them at interview you will come and work for them if they guarantee a minimum 45 hours?
