Two main companies I drive for, one is against the clock all day and you struggle to get it done. The other you sit around a lot. Currently entering my third hour waiting to get unloaded. I think I’d rather be busy
If it’s sitting around in a portacabin, then it’s better to be busy.
If it’s 3 hours on a dock, and you get to stay in your cab, the time will fly.
Horses for courses.
I like to be busy but some days I don’t mind waiting around for backloads etc. Some lads at our place say they hate sitting around and have a right old moan I just reply back with,“You are paid by the hour, what are you moaning about getting paid to kip on the bed, watch tv or go on the laptop?” Fair enough if you are on salary and are waiting around I suppose it’s a different kettle of fish.
I can sit around waiting to get unloaded all day if they want no drama. I buy and sell a lot on the web and use those spare hours to my gain.
Only last week I was a spare driver and was sat in a canteen for 6hrs before I was told to go home. No issue for me that’s me being paid to browse gumtree, fleabay etc got myself some real bargains that day as well.
the day flys when your busy, I don’t know what its like to be sitting around waiting to be unloaded all the time but im sure the novelty wears off very quick.
