Man trapped under burning waste truck in Watford dies
A man has died after becoming trapped under a burning waste truck.
The man was airlifted to hospital after being freed by fire crews at Woodside Leisure Park in Watford early on Saturday.
A Hertfordshire Police spokesman said: "The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been informed and police are working with the HSE to establish the facts of what has happened.
“HM coroner for Hertfordshire has also been made aware of the incident.”
Thank you Driver-Once-More - I should have done that
Awful way to go - But how on earth does a driver “become trapped under a burning waste truck”?
Seems there was an explosion and the lorry caught fire trapping the man underneath, presumably he must have been working on the lorry when the explosions happened.
Not a good way to go if he was concious during the fire
The Mirror:
A man has died after getting trapped under a burning waste truck.Nearby residents heard a “massive bang” shortly before 6.30am, with emergency services rushing to the scene.
The truck, used to collect industrial and chemical waste, caught fire as a result of the incident, with the man still trapped underneath it.
The man, whose name and age have not been released, was flown by air ambulance to Watford General Hospital with “extremely serious injuries” but was pronounced dead later.
His death at the Woodside Leisure Park in Watford, Herts is being investigated by the police, the Health and Safety Executive and the local council.
A post-mortem examination was due to take place on the man’s body to establish the cause of death.
By the way, the article doesn’t say the man was the driver.
