"NOT" Driving home for Christmas

Well, seen at least one, maybe more today, that won’t be driving home for Christmas, Turkish registered truck at Hartshead Moor services to Turkey by midnight, possible?
Maybe some get a plane or coach back, but some must get abandoned over the Christmas period, poor beggers.

Not everybody celebrates Christmas. He could have family over here and if he does celebrate it he could be having a really good time with them. In some countries the 6th of January is a bigger deal than Christmas. Different folks, different strokes.

Was talking to the parking chap at Flamstead last night. He said 10 foreign trucks paid for 2 weeks parking and had taken taxis to the airport.

How many Turkish are Christian, as isn’t it officially a Muslim country?

Yes, but still a bit grim being parked up on a service station for an extended period of time.

It’s reckoned over 99% of the population are Muslim.

It wasn’t aimed at Turkish only, seen a few Eastern European trucks about today and Western European, bet a few will be running in Xmas day or not getting back at all.

I was talking to a bloke who was working for Richard Long and he had spent Christmas on a service station in Slovenia.

They definitely aren’t going to make it then.

I’ve been away on christmas when I was young and single - 6 years ago woke up in Autohof Olzheim on the morning of the 24th, coincidentally my 26th birthday  not a very big deal for me

was on the ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki with a turk who was loading for home yesterday morning, didn’t seem too fussed about it either

Maybe they don’t want to.

Maybe they don’t want to.

But it’s their big day; family time, family meal, present giving. Why wouldn’t they want to make it?

Not everybody celebrates it, I don’t. Not everybody has people to celebrate it with so might prefer to be away from home. Lot of people go on holiday at this time of year to get away from all the crap at home.

According to “unplanned night out” this is transport and (zb) happens so I hope they arn’t complaining about it too much

I’ve done Xmas on the road, no big deal, I put myself up for it as it suited me at the time, I got a nice bonus for doing it and the roads were pretty quiet too, not the worst trip I’ve ever had by far, although it did feel weird writing out the date in my log book.
