Well I thought I would post here, to share some potential good news and give some positive for us young uns entering the industry and to show companies do give chances!

I started my first day of my new job on agency today working for a said frozen food storage place in West yorkshire, and well I was given a tour round by the main man who runs the site and well as some people won’t know I am not going to be able to make my medical tomorrow, as if I was to go to it…I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to start my job today which I know is a bit ■■■■ but soemtimes if you make a sacrifice something good can come of it. The manager mentioned it and asked what the medical was for, and I told him it was for my HGV license as I’m wanting to become a lorry driver. He told me if I can keep going doing what I’m doing, as soon as I get my Class C/C&E that he will be taking me out of the freezers and into a lorry.

And well I had the call from the agency today asking how the first day went, but also very positive feedback from the company about my performance today. Not bad considering I’m the first person the companies used from said agency since they decided to start using them again. So a job well done :slight_smile:

Try and find someone that’ll do the medical evening or weekends and then you can get the ball rolling.

And I’ll do that Dar, don’t think I’ll be able to get my money back from the first medical but to be fair it’s better to lose £60 than the chance of a £2-300 per week job.

Nice oneJonny, sounds like you’ve landed at a decent firm. Keep you’re nose clean and get your licences done ASAP and you never know they might put you through for your class 1 if you keep on impressing them

Cheers Selby I shall do that and who knows maybe I will be lucky for them to foot the bill but I’m not holding my breath that far :slight_smile:

And thank you Jennie, I won’t lie it is very hard graft. Most on here would be shocked at the likes of me doing such hard jobs but ironically it’s really enjoyable and having a 30 min break every 2 and a half hours helps also (The joys of working in a big fridge/freezer :smiley:) All I know is 6 months of this and I shall have arms like Arnold Schwarzenegger! :laughing: :laughing:

Time to rest now though, 6am start for tomorrow finishing whenever the 2 containers are tipped, wrapped and booked in :laughing: :slight_smile:
