It’s quite simple really, even for truckers. You simply reply with “ok boss”, or words to that effect. Then you carry on as normal.
If you normally run it for an hour or 2 at night and an hour or two in the morning carry on doing that.
If you normally run it all night, carry on doing that.
You’re quite a few miles away from whoever gave you a stupid instruction. How are they going to check you’ve carried out their instructions? 1 litre of fuel per night isn’t going to show up one way or the other on the daily, weekly or monthly fuel returns.
You could be a complete idiot of course and give your gaffer a two word reply, the second word being “off”. You are then refusing to carry out instructions.
Used to run for this company years ago in Widnes
What a bunch of Belgian ■■■■■
Start the night heater when you get in the bloody truck and run it 24/7
I did a night out a few weeks ago and i wound up turning the night heater off. 8 oclock at night when i am in cairnryan is a bit late to admit they cocked up and needed me to stay out with no gear at all. Luckily my mate was at the depot when i got back for a rapid turnaround and he had an army sleeping bag in his car which i borrowed. I got myself one on ebay the next day. 6 Celsius in a tin box and i was roasting
Rikki-UK:
keeping warm is your, not the companies responsibility
With that in mind you’re perfectly entitled to refuse to night out without a heater then. As it’s my responsibility, in frosty conditions, the best way of keeping warm is with a night heater.
It’s a sorry old state of affairs when it comes down to not being allowed to have the night heater old but if I were told not to, I think I would also nod in agreement with my boss and then wind the ■■■■■■ up a few degrees more Having said that, my boss would never even dream of asking me not to use it so therefore, if I am cold, I use it, if not I dont.
I must admit though, that I am surprised they allow for the night heater to be kept on overnight when the vehicle is empty and for the sole purposes of making sure the driver has a nice warm cab to get into!!

I agree, that’s ridiculous and there’s no need for it. By the time walk round checks are done engine heater is warming up.
I suspect that this is what the notice the OP referred to is really about.
My company must have been reading this thread and put the idea in their daft noggin…they came out with the same pish today
I was parked up 45 hrs last week in High Wycombe. The night heater was on all the time. Screw being cold!

This did make me laugh initially, but it’s not funny at all.
(I wonder how many companies realise their employees are on here and more to the point if they know who their drivers are
)

I oft wonder this. Although I don’t use my name or have ever mentioned my co. name, i’ll bet
they know who I am!
Plenty of reasons to critisise them but would never do it over the www!
[Love you really, guys;)]
Thetaff2:
If that was me they would get a reply with the second word being “off”
“It’s” is not a swearword - you would have been fine to have posted it on here.
Big Man:
Huktra UK driver told me today they had a text today of transport explaining they expected to not use the night heater in the night or kept to minimum .Sure this must not be right or morally wrong after hard days graft they to tight to heat you up to have a good night sleep .
Total ■■■■■■■■, someone is having a joke with him.

I use my proper name / my common username.
I’ve never said and will never say anything I won’t say to anyone’s face, including the boss.
If I’ve got a problem in work, it gets dealt with in work, whinging on here isn’t going to help.
