Not a good day. M6 Corley

Don’t know what happened for this to end up like this, but it’s definitely not a good day for the driver or anyone using the M6 north.
TNCSI to fill in the blanks please.

Something fell over I’d guess!

Strap failure

It can’t be all that heavy or the curtains wouldn’t have stopped it. I wonder why he didn’t drive it carefully off into the services?

It’s timber. It was strapped as you can see a ■■■■■■■■ the floor just below the bulge and there was 2 part straps hanging on the other side as I went past.

Here’s my guess…The people in the back had to stop to have a comfort break and tried to lean over one side and steer the vehicle towards the services?

they have coned off the access to the services, how hard would it be to have him crawl ove into the slip still leaving room to shove it back on and leave the 3 lanes clear for traffic to flow.
though doing it that way wouldnt let the plebs to completely gridlock the m6 again to make another mountain out of a molehill.

Timber on internals maybe? Or stacked 3 high with only straps over the top not on each level?

Beggars belief that he didn’t limp it into the services or at least get directed in there.

Maybe how I used to see people do it and only two straps on the stack. Top or bottom pack not quite square so shifting around and cuts through the strap. Had that happen to me but fortunately had three straps on.

Agree with slowlane that if it had been me I’d at least have had a go to get it in services.

They didn’t take long to sort this out. I came back past 3 hours later and it had all gone and the services was fully open.

It was free parking on the M6. Go over two hours in the services and it would cost!!!

Wont be so free if he gets fined, insecure load etc

You see look VOSA…a curtain WILL stop the load actually falling out

Seriously though. That’s not a load bearing curtain yet it’s sort of held a stack of timber? Does it not prove to DVSA that a load that’s half the weight of that, or even something heavy like single pallets of drinks…those loads aren’t going to suddenly fall out of a curtain.

Indeed. It’s funny how all of these ideas and “improvements” to health/safety/environment etc always seem to involve individuals or companies spending lots of money.

Anybody would think it was all just a huge job-creation scheme…
