Hello, my name is Kara Hunter and along with my friend Nadia Vaenerberg, am participating in Live Wire’s Jailbreak. We are raising money for the charity Water Aid by getting as far away from Norwich as possible in 48 hours without spending any money. The further away we get, the more money we raise. We were wondering if any drivers coming through Norwich on this Friday would be willing to help us out and take us where they can, preferably in the direction of Europe? I’m sorry that this isn’t entirely a driver-related post. I understand that drivers are working and have a lot to worry about it as it is, but my friend and I could really use some help and it’s for a very good cause.
Spanky - If you can ignore the incestuous farmers, pretentious pointy shoed solicitors and the half a million big issue sellers, it ain`t so bad.
Kara - More and more companies frown on or prohibit casual passengers these days, as there are sometimes insurance implications, but I wish you and your friend every success in your noble venture. Be mindful for your safety though, eh?
I like Norwich, it’s clean, safe, easy to find your way around, has interesting p,aces to visit and the shops are good. It is also next to the Broads, and the coast, some very picturesque areas.

Bazza, you can’t be serious ■■? Norfolk is even worse than Essex …
No mate I’m serious, what do you find wrong with it?
Now Devon and Cornwall are nice, not the friendliest of people though. London is ok as a tourist, the people can be very aloof, the place grinds you down after a while.
Used to live in Cambridgeshire, not a lot to commend it. I have relatives in Corby, a bit rough there, however people still look out for each other there.
The best thing about Norwich is the A11 coming out of it, last time I delivered to a builders merchants in the town centre, I had a hell of a job with 7.5 t weight limits on every approach road off the ring road, eventually I just took a punt & went down one, one of the lads at the merchants said there is only one way in & out but I couldn’t find it (grrrrr, Bloody Nimby’s)
I think a happy medium would be to say that Norwich (NOT the whole of Norfolk) is a decent balance of ancient and modern. The Millenium library in the city centre is one of the finest in the country. Big Uni and lots of colleges = nubile young women of all nationalities everywhere (great to walk around in the summer.) Countless shops, pubs, clubs and restaurants. Quality street musicians. Always something going on (exhibitions, gigs etc.)
Driving around the place can sometimes be a challenge, but it`s really no worse than most other bustling centres.

Agree wholeheartedly. Everything you need is there, excellent shops, swimmng pools, nice resturants, University, big hospital. The A11 duelling is well on the way, it’s got it’s own airport and Norwich is safe and clean.
