MADBAZ:
BTW the study material for the CPC they provide is a little book about as thick as the highway code.

Blimey MADBAZ, I didn’t realise that.
:open_mouth: A set of EOS notes is A4 in size and much thicker than that. :open_mouth:
Just about every training provider I’ve taught CPC for has used the EOS PowerPoints and student notes.
TBF, Friendberry’s CPC notes are also popular and reasonably priced.

The problem with CPC is that it isn’t regulated at the delivery stage, so there’s room for ‘unscrupulous’ providers to have a laugh with candidates’ money if they want to.

MADBAZ:
The CPC is available at some local colleges, and free if your on a qualifying benefit.

:grimacing: Spot-on mate, people only need to ring around and ask.

Well…i probably have been conned, but i booked the course in October last year using a maestro card(not credit card) so i dont see a way out of it. I think i will just bury my head into whatever material they can give me and whatever material you guys have on here and ill take everything they are offering me, even if i have to travel 244.38 miles to essex :stuck_out_tongue::stuck_out_tongue:

i agree with Mothertrucker, the new drivers need to be made aware of the robbing gits (not just sterling) before they part with any money. We must be able to think of something between us??

Oh and im not on benefits anymore :frowning:

Well reading through this thread looks like im in the same boat

I too went with sterling on the free artic course if you pass the cpc which at the time i didnt realise how much work there was involved But i received the on the small size “home study pack” which i thought to myself Is that it? So after driving for the NHS for 6 months now im thinking of either finding other work that train there drivers up themselves to class 1 or look at the cost to take on doing my class 1 myself

TruckerJoe:

 Hi TruckerJoe, Since you’ve already spent your dosh, why not at least have a go at keeping your side of the bargain??

IMHO, you’ve not got much to lose, since a refund seems to be out of the question…

:open_mouth: Suppose you pass  .:grimacing:

As long as you’ve got some kind of study material, and you follow the links in the sticky at the top of the O/D’s forum and read the stuff carefully, there’s no reason why you can’t achieve a pass.

Yeah been thinking about it It just looks a minefield and where to begin lol

TruckerJoe:
Yeah been thinking about it It just looks a minefield and where to begin lol

Hi TruckerJoe, yes mate- agreed.
The CPC is split into modules or “units,” so normally you’d have the option to do them one at a time if the whole lot looks too daunting.
Depending on the type of deal you’ve signed, you’re probably on some sort of time constraint, so you might as well just go for it.:grimacing:

I strongly suggest that you follow THIS LINK (which I’ve already given in your other post…) When you land, please read everything you can about the “National CPC.”

If you get stuck, just post up your question and I’m sure somebody will help.

One thing you could try.

From experiance funded training involves lots of paperwork so that the people providing the funding have an audit trail to follow.

Ask them to tell you who is funding the training and get them to send the paperwork through so that you can complete your parts and sign to say that you are receiving the funding.

They will probably struggle to give you the answer BECAUSE THERE IS NO FUNDING

You simply then tell them to refund you else you will do them for misleading advertising

Mmm that is another thought Its just a little madning on how little they give you to study for such a exam

Since they sent me the Theory test c.d, i have done 50 tests and passed 49 so far. I hope that bodes well for the proper test lol

It will
Just the HPT to master now then
At present the two tests are done as one but in the near future, July 1st I think, the two will be done as seperate tests each with their own seperate fees. The questions for the theory will be increased and so will the number of HPT clips. the upside is that if you fail one of the tests, then only that one will need to be retaken.

I heard about the theory test questions going up to 80 or 100 or something like that. Even though i know most of the answers to the questions and the artic isnt happening anytime just yet, im still nervous about all the stuff you have to know to drive an artic. Kind of like, can i actually remember to do it all and and even remember it all :S Got the Rigid to go through yet though.

I dont like the HPT, think its useless really, Have done one or two of them in the past month or so lol. How can you revise for that though?

There are various CD roms about that can be practiced on but none are exactly the same in quality or their content as the DSA ones - so I’ve been told - never done one myself - or likely to.

I think i will just “blag” the HPT and just keep working on the theory stuff… I was supposed to ring the DWP today and see if there is any way i could get a grant or benefits or something…maybe back to work, income support or because im on a training course. What do you think? Or does anyone know of anything i can get ■■

HPT

Either borrow the official DSA DVD of it.

Or search around here and understand the rules of the game. If you know how the game works, it’s not too difficult.

Yeh, i have done one a year ago tpass the car test and the cd that sterling sent was the same thing…well for a car at least so im assuming the principle of clicking as soon as you spot a danger or anything that resembles a danger is the same■■?

Its exactly the same Haz Perception test for ALL classes strangely enough. So you may well see those sheep crossing the road again !

I would have thought for a LGV that you would have to be a little more aware due to the extended stoppage times and the likes, yet the DVLA seem to think that the dangers are spotted so far back by both car and lorry drivers that the same test is appropriate?

Isn’t that slightly lame? Admittedley, i dont know how they could alter the test but i think its silly lol :stuck_out_tongue:

Most will say that is the problem with the Hazard perception test it is more directed towards car drivers … We tend to click to early…If you search there is a big topic some where on this subject…

Thanks 26, i need to find out some other info so i think ill go a looking
