North Wales Police on A55

Driving home on A55 at 4.30am this morning i was doing 60mph in the 50 bit by Queensferry. One of the unmarked cars a Maroon Mondeo CX55ATF showed a bit of sense and flashed his blue lights at me. I prepared to pull over but he just drove on. I slowed down, job done. Wish they could all be like that. Within reason that is.

Good call by them  - safety not compromised by you, just a reminder of the legal requirement.

SENARIO - If you had gone through one of those signs that flashes up your current speed would you have adjusted your speed  - if yes, then what they did had the same effect. - if no, and they had seen you, then the outcome may have been different.

i bet they wont let you of in the 50mph section near colwny bay :frowning:

i know their keen to nail a bit of tax off the foreigners :unamused: in wales but I was astounded to see three speed traps on a Sat lunch time in the lashing rain they MUST be mascochists or really hate foreign tourists, because it was all in a tourist area.

The research and current thinking is that these devices are MORE effective than speed cameras. The reason they’re not more widespread? Well waddya think? they don’t make money!

I’m all in favour of these devices as well - the more the better IMO
I would also like then placed about half a mile before every speed camera - no excuse then for law breakers

We used to use one on our “days of action” (as opposed to every other day when we were inactive   )…seriously though, they really do slow down most of the traffic, and they don’t alienate people by hammering them with points and fines! I like 'em plenty!

Sounds like the actions of an Old School Traffic cop, (a dying breed these days :frowning: because of the need to massage the figures of bobbies on the beat. :unamused: )

You were obviously driving in a sensible manner, just a little over the limit, but it was 4:30 am. So a quick reminder and job done.
Everyone a winner, you’re happy because you haven’t got a fine a points and he’s happy because he achieved the same result but without loads of paperwork.

I was on the A483 in between Oswestry and Wrexham and this idiot cement driver insisted on pulling right over to the curb to let other road users passed, single track road 40 for trucks 60 for cars (and i mean right over to the curb passed the solid white line), we both pulled into the petrol station and i said to him that it was four penalty points for driving without due care and attention for crossing the white line rather than three for speeding so cars would’nt be late.
He looked at me as though i was an idiot, and thought well you’re the idiot mate :unamused:

That should read single carriageway road of course, i was following him wondering WTF he was doing.

I often hang the NS side wheels just over the white line and slow down a little to allow cars to pass. Saves them getting irritated and trying to overtake in dangerous places.

Maybe ill have to refrain in future!

My thoughts exactly, Wheel … every other bugger compalins at being stuck behind a truck doing 40 but this numpty brings on himself to tell the cement driver he is DWDCAA. I think I might just have told him to ‘Go forth and multiply’ in my best South London accent if he had said that to me.

Me too.
Often with a touch on the L hand indicator, although less so nowadays, as most car drivers don’t know what it means.
There’s not many things more irritating than someone sat right in the middle of the road forcing folks to poke their nose out to see what’s coming. Other than those that speed up when a safe overtaking opertunity arises.

I will sit as far over as possible but not over the white line, because all the crap of the road tends to sit in there. Was driving along the 75 and truck infront was near enough in the verge flinging stones and the likes up.

I used to indicate to show car drivers it was clear but stoped doing that after hearing of an accident caused by that.

This is from the bloke who is living in a car for a week in a Felixstowe car park while doing agency work :stuck_out_tongue:
