North Wales Haulage company's

Now then what about Dh Jones of Ruabon and Allan Morris of Chester

At Dh Jones I can remember my dad having an old A Series unit with a 150 Gardner, and you could only dream of power steering, with the odd saturday trip out in the Hino 8 x 4

Then at Allan Morris Atki Borderer with a 220 ■■■■■■■ then a Foden with a ■■■■■■■ with the Giant single headlights then a B Series Erf with a 240 Gardner, more comfort but think he preferred the ■■■■■■■ for pulling power and outright speed.

We used to do the road salt out of Winsford, cracking sausage sandwich by the river, and then load coal back from south wales yorks etc etc.

Also Pritchard Bros. from Anglesey, B.Pritchard from Bangor, and the extremely tidy tippers that R.J.Roberts,Holyhead had when they were brown and cream, before the Rawcliffe’s green? Someone must have a few of these gathering dust somewhere.

Pritchard Bros were bought out by LE Jones.

Alan Morris are still going. Plenty of wagons, all Scanias I believe.

Ressurecting an old post but a few North Wales ones… Some i’ve posted before elsewhere but sorry!!!.. In no particular order!!!

Are they digging directly from Minffordd Jonmea?

hammer:
Are they digging directly from Minffordd Jonmea?

yes the dumpers are taking stone from Minffordd to site. Jones bros have got 10 Volvo 40 ton dumpers on the job. The new bypass is going where the railway and weighbridge is now. the railway is being moved a bit and there is going to be a new entrance and weighbridge in the quarry.

Bloody hell, they are gonna make a real mess then?!

Are you getting much on the job?

I would imagine one haulage firm local to you wanted lots of big yellow trucks on the job and he wasn’t thinking of 40tonne dumpers…

Saw the Bagillt Trotters all lit up on the A55 one night last week gone midnight not seen them for a while.

I remember them as a Kid… Used to see the all day and night long up and down… Brown and cream IRC DAFS

There used to be a quite a few of them they were based in Llay Nr Wrexham they had a few Dafs aswell as Fodens with tipper trailers and a few flats on brickwork, also a few 8 leggers aswell.

They finished about 2 years ago when the economic downturn hit.

Funnily enough i saw one of there 03 plate Foden 6x2,s being used as a shunter in Kronospan only a week ago still sporting one of there plates i think it was JS03 JCS
