Where is a good place to start to finding class 2 jobs in the North East
I walked into a company today and they offered me £8 a hour as a class 1 driver, if I pass my class 1 drviing test
is this what a new driver can expect bare in mind, minimum wage is 7.20 a hour !!!
I hope you turned on your heel and walked right back out again. £8 for class 1 is a joke.
Unfortunately there seems to be a shortage of reasonably paid class 1 jobs in Lancashire, even more so for someone who has less than two years experience. Regularly put in close to 60 hours a week and only bringing home approx £400.

What area of the North East are you from?
Middlesbrough, I was told that I would need to work 5 days in a week and each day 12 hours. They also told me after 40 hours I would get time and a half for the remaining 20 hours

And if you believe him, you’ll be a fool…
Yes when they are really busy you will be in that overtime bracket. But as that costs them extra, they will try everything they can to keep their overheads down. So never ever rely on overtime, as an employer like that won’t give a flying fig about you or your life…
So when it’s quiet and you’ve done 4 days work for them, don’t be surprised when they haven’t anything for you for the rest of the week! 
Not sure of the going rate in the Boro but i know £9/10 per hour is achievable on Class 2 tipper work over Catterick/Brompton way.Time and a half after 8 hours aswell.

That would sound about right for Boro as well but not surprised at £8 ph
In this case I think I will forget about driving I would get more working in McDonald’s

Or you may take home £500-600 per week that includes nights out
Everything depends upon rate of pay

500 to 600 might sounds good in theory but if your working 60 hours a week for that then your better off in another job

Makes me laugh when people say I’d rather stack shelves, work in McDonald’s… If your licence is the only qualification you have and you need to provide for your family… You will work for that!!
Come to Hull and see the pathetic wages here, £8 is pretty much the going rate around here, unless you get in with airproducts or somewhere like Rix

Anywhere between 60-70, not the best paid job in the world but I enjoy, get all over the place and meet great people… Can’t do that at McDonald’s

I live & work in Newcastle not the best paid area I do approx. 50 hr week take home about £500 that does include several night out a week but as yt says not the best paid but there are other benefits I also go all over meet a lot of different people as I said still enjoy the job/lifestyle as it suits me
