for me and I now work in recruitment - the drivers who say avoid agencies they will drop you etc. etc. etc. tend to be the ones ( and this obviously isn’t 100% the case but most I have dealt with ) who will only start at 6am need to be within a 5 mile radius of their house.
I worked on agencies both up north and since I have lived down here, I never had trouble finding work yes some weeks I worked nights at a company I didn’t like but it paid the bills in the quieter months - I worked on average 4 days a week (was plenty for me) always told them what days I could work in advance and never had any issues. what I did like about agency work was I went into some firms that I would have never got into full time (royal mail for one). if I didn’t like a place I would normally finish the week and that was that (expect Waugh’s only lasted 2 days). don’t know if he is still about but Bill at N.E workforce was always a decent lad to deal with.
if you hate or dislike a job that much I have always been of the mind set that I am here 10-12 hours a day why be miserable? there is mind you a lot of agencies who will talk complete and utter rubbish to you promising the earth and don’t deliver (I have been to a fair few of these so best of luck).;
I treat people the way I expect to be treated. If that transpires to not be the case then it will be goodbye that particular person / agency. As an ex Prison Officer of 24 yrs I have come across & dealt with a very broad spectrum of people good & bad (mainly bad!). I generally know when I’m being spun a line / lied to as it used to go with the territory. Let’s see how it goes, I think I’ve made the correct decision, we’ll see…
I just asked the question, as after leaving full time driving after an ‘issue’ with a manager, I was advised to sign up with X, Y and Z agency…
Guess I signed with the wrong ones back then…

A nationwide agency called H&G do a lot of the supermarket chains Sainsbury & ASDA so might be worth giving them a knock !!
Mainly darn sarf (down south) by the looks of things so no good for me! Ah, Northumberland, Gods country…

Just done 3 days container work at Port Of Tyne & am going into the Co op at Birtley (via ADR) on Thursday. Any previous experience/ comments of the Birtley site would be appreciated.
its been donkeys years since I last done the co-op but always found them ok to work for. tended to run vehicles way beyond what other firms would but they were always legal, all taillift and cages and some stores used to try and take the P*** with oh put this there that there.
