Norfolk wages

There was a couple of times I have read lately on here about working east Anglia.
fillmyboots.co.uk/features/midlands-locator/
This might give you an idea of rates etc

The link opens to fill my boots you must be creaming it there

I’m thinking maybe our Norfolk member has accidentally hit the wrong key with his sixth finger, and then failed to spot the mistake even with his third eye.

Haha, I got 6 toes though. The one I tried to link was advertising beet loads to do for about £3 a ton. I was thinking even if you manage 5 loads with traffic, loading, and tipping. How could that pay.

Odd days:

Fastrac!

Do you mean as an owner driver or £3 per ton as wages for the driver?

Loading is never more than 30 mins unless in a queue of lorries. Tipping you can be in and out in under ten minutes. Of course if the factory has a breakdown it’s different. The distance from farm to factory generally isn’t far. 29t delivered each time.

I must admit when I did it I was never in and out in 10 minutes. Always seem to have to queue, then go for sampling, then your blocked in when finished leaving no choice but queue for the wash. Have been told that the big boys don’t have to sample as much, I was only a driver. Not my firm so lost nothing.

Did it regularly for four or five years and apart from a couple of years ago when they had a series of bad breakdowns the amount of hold ups was few. The sampling depends on how many loads the farm have and the quality of samples. If they pick up a problem they may sample you a lot to check. Also I found if you didn’t try join the mayhem of first load and went about 45 mins after opening you got straight in.

Did you get used to the smell. My Mrs hated it, i had to strip off as I came in the door and all my clobber went straight in the washing machine. I admit I would not put it on my bucket list of things to do. Haha

It could be rank if you had a heap that had been waiting a while.
