Yes they do, & they love agency, just like most employers.

I did one day for them two weeks ago and when I got back in the yard he tried to give me an application form! Which I politely declined. My son works for them though and they`re ok to work for.

They prefer to employ their own drivers but like all the big players they also have a core of agency that they keep busy.

They certainly employ their own drivers, and use agency too.

They employ their own drivers, and also use agency drivers.

Do they employ drivers for occasional days or would that be agency

Subbies for occasional days mate, but drivers strictly through agency. I believe that Milestone are their labour provider.

Thanks.

Evening.

You looking at getting in at XPO then ?

I’ve done some work with a subby for them and just wondering if it’s worth talking to them about odd days. Always handy to have irons in the fire.

I refuse to work for agency unless my backside is hanging out of my trousers

XPO recently took over the yard I worked in. A lot of drivers have walked out because they seem to have very little regard for the drivers, seriously reduced their overall take home income, don’t listen to the drivers and generally have the attitude of “We Are XPO”, we are a massive American company and we are god. Those who are left in the yard are generally unhappy with the way thing have gone (although there are a couple of drivers who are ok with the new way of doing things) most don’t.

They say that they don’t use agencies but are forced to because of the number of drivers who walked…

Did the office staff suddenly change attitude when XPO took over or was this something bubbling under the surface and this was the thing that made the pan boil over?

Didn’t have any problem with the office staff I worked with prior to the take over, those that are left are working under new management and it is the new management that upset the drivers.

The nearest yard to where I live - is a former Salvensons ■■■ Nobbies yard.

I’ve been sent in there on third party jobs a few times - but I’ve never worked out of there.
I did get given an application form when running in there with a fedex wagon once - but when I found out it was £480 a week and they wanted you to have an ADR to get even THAT… I let it go. :frowning:

What are the agencies paying then? - Milestone have been and gone as far as I’m concerned.
I’m wondering if NB is another place like Storbarts - good to work for on agency - but crap otherwise…

Strangely this week in XPO’s second week in our yard where about half the staff left due to XPO changing our working agreement, cutting hours and nights out seriously affecting the drivers take home pay. They had an agency advertising for Trampers that would be paid more money per hour, paid for nights out and also their travel costs of up to £99 …

Big kick in the teeth for the staff that were forced out of their jobs due to cuts in take home pay as well the remaining staff who was not offered the same opportunity…

There also seemed to be issues with the pay the drivers were due to be paid… It has become a very unhappy place to work now XPO are in charge.

Having worked for Norberts 9years, which was a good company to work for. With the take over by XPO we have not seen any change at our depot as yet, things continue to carryon

Same here to be honest, I’ve worked for TDG, Norberts and know XPO, no changes all the way through.
Only change has been at the top of the food chain with directors leaving, no changes at ground level thankfully.
