I was in Ashford Truckstop yesterday (Sun) and near by was one of those British Norberts who I got talking to. It turns out that on December 23rd all the British drivers at his place are going to be made redundant and on 1st Jan the company is actually going to reopen under a slightly different name with all Polish drivers. Has anyone else heard anything of this? I presume that if this is true, it will only be the British drivers getting it in the neck, I cant see that happening in France or Britain would soon be grinding to a halt by means of a blockaded Calais.
On an almost commical note, also in Ashford Truckstop was a legion of Czech trucks pulling mostly German and Dutch trailers and a handful of Poles and Estonians. The latter two whilst communicating in broken German to each other, actually complained that “the Czechs are taking our work” I’ve really heard it all now.
