got mines in today , nice wee letter and a booklet.

I cant believe that nobby dressingtable has the funds to buy out such a large company as TDG…this company is the biggest private logistics company in europe. What i heard was nobby was only going to buy an irish depot…just a small part of a giant collaboration…no doubt someone will prove me wrong…

TDG don’t have any Irish depots. They sold their Ireland business to Stobart. Dentressangle is a massive company that dwarfs the likes of Stobart.

As I understand it, TDG’s last owner (Laxey Partners?) have stripped all of the property out of the group, and are either holding on to it or selling it seperately. All Norbert Dentressangle are buying is the actual transport operations and contracts, plus taking on the fleet and drivers. Transport ops are worth buttons, comparatively, the value’s all in the land/property.

Probably explains why Stobarts said TDG UK was too Expensive for what was in the deal when they looked at it!!! ND paid £197million for TDG!!!

But then what seems expensive for one company can be a bargain for another. I can’t imagine TDG had that much to offer Stobart. But it would have had a huge amount to offer Dentressangle. Their UK operations were flagging and they needed to gain a foothold. Buying TDG did that. Just as Stobart buying TDG in Ireland did for them.
