From what I gather, some, most, or all our counterparts in Eastern Europe don’t even have to do any HGV tests. It’s simply a matter of having to pay for a category to be added to your licence and your good to go. Some may have to do some basic agriculture vehicle test and that covers you to drive anything, thereafter.
After that, you can go and knock on the door’s of any western European employers and ask for a job.

Yeh that is in fact correct. As like you, I also believe as gospel that type of driver bullcrap, that I hear all the time in rdc.s, ferries, cafes and pubs. :unamused:

Are you saying I’m right or wrong? Your opening sentence told me explicitly, that you think what I said is true. Your last sentence said the opposite.

Seriously? Do I really need to answer that question? :open_mouth:

OK, it was a combination of sarcasm and irony.

So if you aren’t a troll, you are a negative and aggressive driver.

Congrats.

Today we had a Johnny foreigner take a 15 in front of our warehouse door

Did someone not politely point out to him that the door required to be kept clear for constant access, or did everyone just mutter about “bloody foreigners” and not actually approach him?

The forkie that was loading me told him that he needed to move. Don’t think this was received though as he stayed there for a full 15. It was 8pm at night though so there is very little traffic in and out of the warehouse. Don’t think he could of got away with that during the day.

I am just coming back to driving after 10 year break (class 1 license ) I thought will done agency work to get me up to speed, went for interview the chap was polish ? so was off to bad start there,
so he says yes we have loads of work, good says I, we start filling the forms in then he says we need 5 yes 5 checkable references, this was the point that I got up and left, so how do these people
get the work ■■?

5 seems high but most will need 2 work and a personal as a minimum.

depends on what kind of work you want but if your walking out at someone asking you to provide references you may find agency work isn’t for you.

  I see eagerbeaver has made another friend

Ummm how can I put it… you are not polish are you? Do you think a polish driver who gets interviewed by the polish agency will be asked for five references?

Pat Hasler:
All agencies are the scum of the earth.

like it…totally agree :open_mouth:

I do hope you mean the Agency’s and not agency drivers

I just looked in Daltons weekly and there is a Drivers Hire franchise for sale boasting net profits of £100k per annum   No wonder there are new agencies starting up every week. :unamused: Still the gullible drivers will flock to sign up for minimum wage.

isn’t it in India if the driver passes then so do the passengers?

Only the passengers in the cab. The ones on the roof only get a provisional.

Are you sure it was 5 references and not a 5 year checkable history?
That’s quite common for a lot of firms now, particularly for air freight carriers.

I know Dave, that was my point. The anti foreign crew spout all this crap that they have heard and believe in rdc.s and the like, and don’t know wtf they are on about in reality.
