Found a Srew of fiofth Wheel broken yesterday.
Went after Shift in Workshop and got said its already the 3th of the new Axor which has that.Seems there is with that Serie anything wrong on iT?
Actually more then unlikely that somethings happens,as the Pressure is not going on one Screw alone, and if its over-tightened then why just one,and thats on a serie of Units?
Anyone else noticed that? there quiet a view Companies who run that Sort of lorry

Sounds more of a problem for Jost who seem to make most of the fifth wheel couplings fitted to all trucks rather than Merc, and if theres three faulty ones at your place it might be down to someone regularly abusing/mis operating/not maintaining the coupling.

A screw loose?

:arrow_right: Broken :bulb:
Isnt Jost,as fifth Wheel workes fine, but with Screws Mercedes used to fit it onto thers Units

Picture is from Wikipedia and does not show the one in Question
The Srews which hold the Fifth Wheel on the Frame are fixed that on each of the 4 Holder is “One” screw with the Nuts on Top.The other Screws have the Nuts underneeth in the Frame you can’t see that Nuts.
Now in that Case are the 4 Screws with the Nuts on Top are broken on the Unit i had,but also the same twice on a new Axor the last few Weeks.

Which srews you mean?

The red and white ones or the black and red ones?

If mounting bolts are shearing then its likely they were not tight to begin with and maybe missed in the PDI which isn’t unusual. I would only suspect a problem if bolts sheared after they had been replaced and re-secured. Its doubtful its a driver hooking up with too much welly when its happened to several new motors, no need to bang onto the kingpin thesedays with air suspension anyway.

Have to agree with Franky, they need tightening up, but now they will all need replacing and torquing up to the right reading. I know that is a Wikipedia photo, but there are a lot of red rust marks around those bolts too
