It’s funny what you notice when out and about
Today in Aylesbury about 3pm I watched a Whistl artic box trailer pulled by a 61 plate Renault thing.
The trailer brakes screamed every time he touched the brake pedal and the rear left was locking up even at fairly low speeds and it shuddered and jumped at the slightest braking by the look of it.
Did he not realise or was it a case of “balls I am going back with it and not caring”
It made horrendous noises , enough for a guide dog near me cower down in fright when it passed him.
Had I been able I would have stopped the driver to tell him but I was on foot .
Would love to know if it made it back to base , Or is he sat somewhere dejectedly awaiting recovery.?
When I first started driving, I had a trailer do that to me. When I got back to the yard I told the fitter, who walked straight over to the suspension valve and put it back in automatic mode. Worked fine after that !
We’ve got one trailer that’s noisy, had it’s brakes relined about a year ago & it’s been noisy ever since. Doesn’t lock up though.
I try to play tunes on it.
Told the fitter numerous times but he reckons that the brakes just need bedding in !!!

Probably on drums which are always noisy when hot.
As for the locking up, when I used to run trailers in for MOT, the load valve was always wound up to get a better brake reading, not all mechanics wound them back on their return so the trailer would brake loaded even when empty.

Ha ha, Big Tony would have sent it to Brian Curries to get it sorted, Gordon would have used a full tube of Mastic to muffle the noise. & Del would still be writing out the paperwork.
Could have been an ex Mat trailer.
Picked one up in Swindon,noticed it had a flat tyre . . . defected when i dropped it in Gent.
Was running light,talking of which,they worked.
