Why don’t you ask your union representative.

3% seems to be the norm, we just got that this month along with an extra 15 minutes for paperwork/vehicle checks

No wonder companys are going down the pan…45 minutes ? do they get 3 council workers to stand round the truck and look like there involved just to add to the ambionce ?

A senior manager from Wincanton who was on the same CPC course as me said that the drivers just sit in the canteen completing their daily check sheets before they even know what truck they will be driving that day, they just put the registration number in afterwards.

Exactly my thoughts mate. What a load of ■■■■■■■■ 45 mins a day for vehicle checks and fuelling up. It takes 10-15mins to fuel up, 10 mi s for daily checks and I do my paperwork while I’m tipping. Simple.

there is no legal time limit, could take you 5 mins or could that you 20 mins, it takes me 3 mins in the morning just to walk around to make sure all the tyres are up and the lights are on, i look around the truck during the day while i am loading at least twice so if there is anything else this will come to light then, it’s aload of bull that vosa say this and say that ect, the company might require you to show that amount of time for their own piece of mind, but that is it :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

each to their own chaps, if the company want to pay me £6.93 before i turn a wheel im not going to complain
i said they pay us for 45 minutes to cover pre start checks, paperwork and fuelling up. i never said i spend 45 minutes doing those tasks.

We get 30-45 mins before getting out on the road. You have to check your paperwork, make sure they have given you the correct maps and risk assessments. Then do your tacho, walk round the vehicle ( very strict on vehicle checks etc.) find your trailer, check it for damage and defects, hitch up check tail lift open back door seal check the load is correct and you are happy with the restraints used ( as far as you can see of course), re-seal the trailer, check the fridge is working and do the journey print-out. Then fill out the vehicle check sheet and the delivery note check sheet, then re-enter the same info onto the MDT ( handheld electronic scanner). It takes roughly the amount of time allowed. ALL firms are different but I can definately say I am never going to get out of the yard without showing at least 15 mins other work on the tacho!

some people dunarf go off topic don’t they Hmmm Topic don’t like them they got nuts in , think i’ll have a Mars bar instead :sunglasses:
