I drove class 1 vehicles since 2002 but the past 4 years I have driven rigids (good money and hours) but have now been made redundant.
Trying to get work on class 1 now but being told I am inexperienced or need to have driven a class 1 for 180 days in the last 24 months. What a joke. Will keep hunting

What a load of bollix ! Is that coming from a company or agency ?
I would have thought that many agency drivers and casual drivers would struggle to meet that 180 day criteria even if they still drive the relative classes of vehicle?
If it agencies you getting this crap from, just tell them you used to drive class one two days week and rigids three days a week. Problem sorted.
It’s all agencies, they say it’s for an insurance declaration. I don’t know how they would know anyway but I’m an honest person.
Getting paid 90 days notice anyway so no rush but I’m getting bit bored.
It only suits till they’re short lol.
Ridiculous chicken n egg crap
Do you forget how to drive if you don’t do it every day? What a load of rubbish, car insurers don’t ask if you drive regularly they take your money and that’s it.

Exactly! Been driving 26ton rigids and W&D. Clean licence, flexible to hours, willing to travel. Previously driven for nearly every company in Northamptonshire. Maybe I should say I just arrived in the country.

I got onto a motorbike for the first time in fifteen years when I picked it up four years ago. Am still here…
Agencies just tell folks a complete pack of lies to suit their own agendas - don’t feel nervous about returning the favour…
Honesty is not the best policy, and my mum always told me to treat others how they treat you, so just lie about it, they will return the favour when you’re signed up
I passed my class one in 1979 and didn’t drive an artic. again until 1996, I drove for five years and then had a seven year break and returned to them for another five years.
I didn’t tow a caravan for nine years but managed to remember how to recently.
