This question is on the LGV theory test …
Under EC rules your daily rest can be reduced to 9 hours but NOT more often than
A. 1 day per week
B. 2 days per week
C. 3 days per week
D. 4 days per week
… how are newbies supposed to answer when no correct answer is given?
Correct answer is 3 times between weekly rests
I’m sure that was one question that I had in my test a few weeks back and positive I had that one wrong lol
I’m not seeing a problem here?
ROG:
Correct answer is 3 times between weekly rests
Yes it’s worded wrong but I would have answered C as I’m sure would most of us would. But it’s worrying if it’s part of the LGV theory test.

Then you need to read the regs - or do the practice theory test on the regs
A ‘week’ refers to the fixed week
there is one question in the test which asks what a week is and gives the correct answer out of the 4 choices

The problem is that the answer is 6, but it’s not offered as an option.
There’s a world of difference between “per week” and “between weekly rest periods.”
If you read the Regs (or even the VOSA handbook,) the extension of daily driving time is written as “per week” but the reduction in daily rest is written as “between weekly rest periods.”
Since “week” has a precise definition, and it’s not an offence to have 24hrs off in the middle of a week, the way the rules are written helps (especially international) drivers get back for the weekend.
This is even more important in countries that ban trucks from the roads on Sundays.

Yes, I learned it as the practise app showed it (same wording you have above). And it was this forum (Coffeeholic I think) who made me aware I had learned it wrong.
IMHO they should take out some of the questions about (essentially) first aid, blue auxiliary air lines, tuning your radio, wearing sun glasses, and “staying calm and accepting the error” and have more questions on driving hours…

Had the question been put like this I would have agreed with you DD …
Under EC rules your daily rest can be reduced to 9 hours PER WEEK but NOT more often than
1 time
2 times
3 times
4 times
… but the original asks how many times it can be reduced then goes on to give choices from the fixed week instead of between weekly rests
Peter Weddall-Hall at DVSA 0115 936 6250 is now looking into this as it is incorrect
He was surprised as they had VOSA look at the Q&As for this section!
Peter knows what the correct answer should be and agrees it is not there
