Currently driving a 15plate 15t Actros rigid, and am broken down near Manchester Airport.
This has come up on my dashboard. Waiting for recovery which is 2hours away anyone any idea what this problem is
Probably the usual dodgy sensor issue. If you have a battery isolator switch then try turning the electrics off for 10 minutes.
Seen the situation before where during maneuver (like picking a trailer up) on an older Actros if the air runs low you can end up stuck in gear with the clutch more or less engaged and not enough air pressure to either get the box out of gear or disengage the clutch, sometimes needs external air connected to put enough wind back in to get it out of gear again.

Happened twice to me - go to a depot at silly o’clock find truck left in gear three weeks ago - air dribbled away - result going nowhere.
Wait for Merc assist to turn up with his onboard compressor.
My 14 plate craptros will start and run (and build up air) if left in gear, it just wont move off until neutral gets selected. I guess the clutch is worn.
It means your handbrake’s on. Release it, and the lorry should move.
Ah, it’s obvious now, your gearbox cant shift gears, because it’s on its side…

I’ve fixed that for him.
