Got back to the yard today to find that my company is getting rid of its rental Class 2 units as one of our big contracts is downsizing. Two drivers are being put through their Class 1’s and two more are being made let go. Office has said nothing but I’ve had two people ask me when my class 1 test is and the first thing they said was “good luck” which doesn’t fill me with confidence. So come May 16th, no pressure then.

If they put you through it, they obviously believe in you… It’s easier said than done but don’t stress.

Firstly I don’t blame your company for putting through the other 2 drivers, they had an inkling you’d put yourself through anyway I assume?
Secondly no pressure. Even if the worst was to happen, you are now a time served driver, you’d walk into another job. While you wait for another test
But I’ll have a fiver on you to pass
Did the others report the company to the HSE or just you?
Everyone’s under pressure when going for these tests. Don’t let the extra pressure get to you and you’ll be fine.
Pete
Best of luck Radar, I’m sure you will be fine as long as you DON’T put too much pressure on yourself, just be confident that you will nail it! Don’t dwell on the fact that 2 others are getting their training paid for, as their pay and contract negotiations will probably be fixed for a period, while yours won’t be!
Just chill as self imposed pressure will only be detrimental to the result!!!
You found any takers yet F-reds, as I’ll have a tenner on him as well!
Radar,
There really is no pressure mate…if for any reason you don’t pass this time (which I’m sure you will) there is still class 2 work on offer everyday in Immingham via agency so in the interim you won’t be out of work. If you do pass, which is more likely, there is class 1 work on offer everywhere you look.
Give me a PM once you know what’s happening and I’ll put you in touch with a great bloke I’ve just started doing some work for. It’s agency but he’s an ex marine and straight down the line. Best rates I’ve found as well.
Think positive mate!!!

The race is long, and in the end it’s only ever against yourself.
Good luck

That’s the best thing about paying fir your own, you are the master of your destiny, once you have that Licence, you are free to go to any offers, those others will have string’s attached
