is this how they call them? No-poach or No-hire agreement?
It is usually six months or one year I believe, period in which a driver cannot switch agencies for a same client, or becoming directly employed by the client when it has been through agency before.
Anyone can shed a light on what it is like nowadays? and do not be ashamed of not answering in case of not knowing, just remain patient and wait for a sound answer so we all learn together

Like you said, used to be common. I worked 9 months at a job through agency 17yrs ago and they ‘sold’ me to my permanent job for £250. Not sure what that says about me ha.
GB (when they were a reputable haulier to work for) said that it had to pass one year since I worked for them agency for them to hire me contract.
Warrens two years ago kicked out a candidate at the induction we were all attending, since they had worked for them agency within a given timeframe.
So, what is the real world experience beyond legal framework and technicalities.

When I passed my test years back joined agency for work at law distribution haydock.
More less same area same work day in day out. Then out the blue agency rang said don’t need you there’s no work which found confusing.
Was told later that after 6 months law would have offer me a job.so they laid me off so to speak got another agency in for 6 months and so on.
I don’t get the logic in that but in way did me a favour
12 week period at my agency if the company want to take you on.
Agency v direct permanent isn’t a simple question or answer.It depends on personal circumstances and the deal with the agency and exactly what you want from that deal.
The right deal with the right work I would never choose to work direct and permanent for an employer.Been bitten too badly by permanent direct to choose it with hindsight.That was even with the rare type of deal of holidays as and when I chose not the employer.
Duties expected was the deal breaker for me more chance of being able to turn down unwanted duties with agency.
I was on agency for a. Few years was great get holidays when wanted no need go through hr get them approved. If wanted day of go doctor’s no problem. Xmas new year off etc I enjoyed it.
Wanted remortgage/move . And as soon as found out was agency worker the said that’s not guaranteed work can’t help you. Despite having. Almost 3 years of payslips showing my income.
So had get a full time job was earning less than agency then had my mortgage approved.
Did you go straight back to the agency? 
Thought about it for a while but kind had few Jobs found a place I enjoyed working at so stayed there.
