There’s still two, Jim runs Young Brothers and Sandy runs KTS Renault Trucks, there were originally four brothers, I do know the story but I won’t go into it here. Jim Young is my landlord at my operating centre and I chat to him most weeks.
Apropos of nothing, here’s the Daf 3300 I used to drive when I worked for Young Brothers in the early 1990s.
Did you know John Ellington? Golf mad driver for youngs? Ex SCA.
Johnny Edwards from Sudbury Suffolk .
That’s as bad as here then, we don’t get night out or ‘Lay over pay’ as it’s called here, although my first company here did.
I thought it was law in the UK to pay night out pay ? … It used to be.
The answer is obviously to not work for that company.

Used to be great here, if them Americans where a bit more astute then they’d ask you if it was so great here then why did you move there !!!
Or don’t you tell them
There’s a firm just down the road from here.
£450 a week in the bank out 5 nights one week 6 the next. Regularly weekended away from home Not a penny for nights out. They do pay parking and tolls but only as expenses (in cash at the end of the week supported by receipts)
They do a bit of euro work (£550 a week in the bank) plus exes weekly no night out money.
They advertise online regularly. Can’t seem to keep people 5 minutes
Shiny Scania Topline Christmas tres though.

Can’t you claim it back in your taxes like we can in Canada ?
I haven’t done long haul for a while so not too sure but it’s something like, you get back 80% of $71 for every night in the US & 80% of $53 for every night out in Canada.
Can add up to 1000’s every year.
I would not do a over night.simple really if you aint paid for it then dont do it
I was talking about these Youngs:
I’ve been told , if you are out delivering or collecting containers for them, and run out of your hours and need to park up somewhere, you don’t get paid for the night out.

I got 6700 dollars back for last year, it isn’t pay though!
The taxman gives you an allowance which you claim and get money back, it adds up to the same thing, but the companies contribute SFA to it.

Yes, your right, it’s not wages but it’s basically the same as night out money except the government stumps up instead of companies and that lump sum does come in handy.
In 3 years long haul I got back 1 x $8k & 2 x $7k but I lived in the truck for those 3 yrs.
