There is a provision in law under Section 88 of The Road Traf c Act (RTA) 1988 that may allow you to drive while DVLA processes your application.
In practice, this means that when you send your application to DVLA to be renewed and your licence expires (runs out) while we are processing your application, you may be able to continue driving.

I’ve had one of those letters at my second medical at 45 whilst DVLA took two months after expirey of my licence to decide to let me or not let me carry on driving without having to wear glasses.
But isnt good if you do International Work. Would be better if they would give a License for a Year till they know wot and when. So you can drive abroad too.
