I might disagree with you about the term immigrant though, illegal or otherwise in the cases referred to here, it is an invasion nothing less and it’s almost funny that our legions of politicians and layers of apparatchiks backed up by an increasingly paramilitary style of pointless enforcement services, all have proved utterly useless in the one job they are sworn to do, protect the country its borders and its people.
Genuine immigrants want a better life for themselves and their families, but, they don’t want to turn the country into the crap hole they were so very glad to escape from, and do their best to become part of and contribute to their new host country, not just have their hands out for whatever is free…if we receive people from Hong Kong they will be an asset to the country.
Our long dead home guard would have done a sterling job of repelling these invaders, how that generation and others before them who fought off all and sundry must be turning uneasily in their graves at this shameful debacle.

Fully in favour of this as long as it is apply in person to the Home Office in Whitehall for an official to come out and affix the relevant pass to the windscreen. Plenty of parking available since it is never any trouble to shut off the entire area when one of the minority rights groups wants to have a shout about what has offended it.

adding a surcharge onto the tunnel or ferry fare would no doubt be too difficult to use i suppose. (justified or otherwise)
if its only the ferry/train traffic thats being charged,then no need for beancounters looking at trucks to see if they can fine them.

It’s a fine for not having your customs docs in order before entering the port, or anywhere near it.
This is in addition to paying for said docs of course, and any duties payable. And in addition to any inspections by the vet etc.
