No more fish n chips on Felixstowe seafront, naughty driver!

big boots:
everybody hates lorry’s because they’ve never felt the hardship of empty shelves, that’s whats needed, everythings taken for granted.

Exactly. I said on another thread talking about locals complaining about trucks through their village that they needed to be shown just how relient they are on lorries. When they experience empty shops and start complaining about it they need to be told “well you didnt want hgvs through your precious village so deal with what comes with that”

The owners of Teebay,Cairn Lodge and the new Gloucester services could easily build a dedicated truckstop for Felixstowe and other ports that would benefit.
Southampton is a bucket hole for parking for drivers.
We are no longer allowed to eat in the dockers subsidized canteen in the docks.
Years ago a lady sold food from the boot of her car but they ended that.
All that empty and vacant land inside the port could be ideal for a truckstop in Southampton and Felixstowe too
The UK is thirty years behind the times with their attitude and mentality to road transport.
Media report articulated vehicles as a van, or a juggernaut was seen doing over 70 mph by a dog walker with no radar.
Google Brescia Est truckstop Italy, car hire, gym, restaurants and discounted hotel rooms for drivers, fridge power points for trailers, foreigners must laugh at the joke that is the UK, no wonder they eat from their kitchens on the side of their trailers.

I think Toby is on commission from the westmorland group considering the amount of time he mentions Tebay and Gloucester services!

Maybe the Betfred boss who owns The Hollies could step in and build a truckstop at Felixstowe.
He has built a new one near Liverpool and plans to do more.

As usual I think ignorance is the driving force behind the NIMBYs

As corij said there are only ever one or two trucks down on the sea front but the bigger problem is the lack of decent truck parking for anyone in or around Felixstowe - excluding Orwell Truck Stop - which is a whole other thread in itself!

Seeing as the local council/district council ought to be responsible then why don’t we collectively do something about it - would an e-petition work or do we just continue to chew the cud and disagree with the ignorant NIMBYs

Can you/we be bothered to try and do something to make things better for drivers?

pointless petitioning the council in Felixstowe they don’t own any land around the docks . do they still allow parking on one of the parks inside gate one
