Radio 1 are continuing their steep descent into the mire. Dev is leaving the early morning breakfast show from the end of March, being replaced by the god awful Gemma Cairney.
Pretty gutted. I don’t listen to Radio 1 generally these days but Dev was brilliant, always a good laugh and made the daft o’clock starts a bit more bearable.
Yeah I used to listen to Dev when I was doin the stupid o clock starts at my last job, dont start until 6.30 these days so only catch a few mins of his show a day. Hes a good laugh, just what you need 1st thing to wake you up.
Cant stand that ■■■■■■ who took over the breakfast show from Moyles, hes got a strange accent and it does my swede in, get in a good mood listening to Dev and then wanna kill someone when the other ■■■■■■ comes on
Yes going to miss Dev, usually just listen to him and Scott mills even though he is getting a bit tedious now. Got a few mentions from Dev in the past especially the luck last night bit
never heard of dev, only div, and never heard of her either, but then again i have only listened to radio 1 when i was 5yrs old, and it wasnt much good then, but then again, nor was the bbc, it was only the pirate radio, that got the bbc to change its attitude, we were well fed up of Vera Lynn and Gracie Fields by then, theres only so much people can put up with about the White Cliffs of Dover and dear old Gracies Isle of Capri and roses of Picardy bless em all…now theres a song close to my heart…lol
Preferably a book from Audible ( Rebus, Tom Thorne or something with a historical bent). Then, either radios 5,4 or 2.If abroad I can receive these on the BBC radio app, which has been a great boon, until the constant buffering gaps do my head in.
Speaking of which, the Spotify app is a good alternative, particularly if you download the “Radio” alternatives to “Playlist”, where they aren’t dependant on a satellite signal…Sometimes I just love listening to the motor purring along…
Only listen to 3.
Planet Rock (DAB only)
Radio2 and Absolute
Gave up on Radio 1 in the early 90s too much weeney bopper music and an extremely short play list.
There was no real alternative until Virgin Radio started in 1994 (?)
Virgin went into a temporary decline when Chris Evans bought it (recovered a bit now)
The only times nowadays that Planet Rock is not on my radio is when Ken Bruce and Johnny Walker is on
I do have to say Chris Evans on Radio 2 is good (Pleased he has grown up)

Any other regular Dev listeners on here?
Not listened to the radio this week, but usually listen to Dev in the morning, I try to listen to Grimshaw and the only thing I want to do to Ferne is ■■■■ her brains out, I can’t listen to her it does my head in, I listen to Scott and Chris at 1pm and usually listen to Greg James when I’m parked up for the night.
What’s happening to Dev, I’ve missed it! Where is he going?
Radio 1 is rubbish. Before Christmas, they mentioned the word Christmas every ten seconds in between songs.Predictable, daft and boring then constant waffle about nothing.
